I know this is Emmerdale rather than Corrie related, but we saw the front of the Emmerdale studio building on today's ITV3 episode, doubling as a police station. The first appearance of its exterior in the show, I think. Still appears occasionally even though it's not the studio any more, we saw it last year posing as a hotel lobby. We saw the previous studio building used as a brewery at the start of the 90s.
The old Emmerdale studios used until 2011 for filming before they moved to the main YTV building is now used as the Emmerdale Studio Experience and they still use some of the building for filming - the police station was mentioned when I did the tour but I forget what else as its over 2 years now since I went. Was Emmerdale always filmed there or did they have another studio for the early episodes when it was Emmerdale Farm?
Going back to Corrie, i thought the scenes with Fiz and Tyrone in the Bistro with Toyah were ridiculous. Who goes for a counselling session in a restaurant especially with a neighbour being sat in earshot and making stupid comments - as if that would ever happen. If it was meant to be comedy it wasnt funny. And how many times have Peter and Carla been married between them? Totally lost interest in them both to be honest due to the ridiculous writing. And this is at least the 2nd time Peter has been on his last legs at one of his weddings.

Emmerdale wasn't filmed there until 1997, so they'd only been there for around 18 months or so by the time of the episodes we're seeing on ITV3 (I'm guessing that may well be why Emmerdale didn't go 16:9 until 2002, presumably the studios were only kitted out for 4:3 and it took until then until it was considered economical to replace the equipment). Between 1972-89 (and since 2011) they were in Kirkstall road, from 1989-97 that were in a converted mill on the outskirts of Leeds (the fact they were brand new studios probably explains why the picture quality on the earliest ITV3 episodes looked so good for the time).
Back to Corrie, the fact they're having to use a set for courtroom scenes because of the pandemic rather than real courts as they usually do really shows up on screen, quite obviously fake.
The exterior of the court is part of Weatherfield Police Station repainted red.
Hopefully it won't be too long until soaps can resume location shoots again, them all being confined to their indoor and outdoor sets has been very detrimental the last year. It's become easy to recognise the same car parks and buildings being used again and again to double for supposedly different locations in all the soaps, as well as the sorts of away from set things we'd normally see on screen only being referred to in dialogue because they just can't film them right now with the locations they're confined to using. As was mentioned here only a couple of weeks back we had EastEnders using a building on Elstree that didn't look anything like a supermarket to suposedly double as one.
I noticed whenever they need to hold an event or set up an affair off the Street they seem to go on the same hotel set. It's the set that was one of Ray's hotels, where Carla spent the night with Adam, Todd went for a drink with Paul, Carla & Peter married etc.
But shouldn't be too critical they are doing the best in difficult circumstances during the pandemic.

I've yet to see last night's episodes. Is it the same courtroom they used for Geoff's trial, and for Lianne's legal attempt to stop Oliver's treatment being withdrawn? That looked to me very much as if it they were using a repurposed ITV meeting room.
Very interesting- Just a Minute, the ITV Schools on Channel 4 clock music, was playing on Emily's radio at the start of today's first ITV3 episode. Immediately following the BBC pips.

I thoroughly enjoyed the ITV3 episodes this week. The pace was faster. Deirdre's trial was 'done and dusted' in 3 episodes, and the tension was maintained throughout, despite there being other storylines.
It just goes to show that sometimes "less is more".

Pobol y Cwm returned to location filming some months back. It’s not one of the “big” soaps, I know, but I’ve seen at least a few scenes/storylines play out away from their regular sets. One was in a forest, and there were some hospital scenes in a car park which didn’t look like the BBC to me. Peculiar that a smaller production has managed it whilst the bigger soaps haven’t.

You’ve sort of answered it for yourself here - a smaller production often goes hand in hand with smaller crews, cast, notability of the actors/the programme from the general public if spotted filming out and about.
