A very quick departure storyline for Cathy and Melanie Hill has now left the show.
Quite a few character returns with the one tonight, another next week & obviously Spider's return has already been mentioned.
No mention for Evelyn's "He says he's got an ology" line the other night?
(Followed up by "Everyone's a scientist" during the next episode)
Here it is
Maureen’s facial reaction when she delivered the ‘ology line was priceless. Perfectly done.
Watching the 5000th episode on the ITV Hub, strangely the digital timecode strip appears at the top of the screen for a couple of minutes shortly into part 4. Wonder if it was like this on the original broadcast?

It may have aired as a three parter, or at least been produced as a three parter and then split into four. It originally aired on the 11th March 2001 - I know it was 2001 when they were allowed to add an extra ad break into one hour programmes but not quite sure when it came into place.
I think it was the back end of 2000 when they allowed hour long programmes to beo four parts. The December 2000 live edition was in 4 parts (and the fact the break captions were superimposed live over the scene makes it clear that's how it originally went out, and didn't have an extra break added later)
ITV3 have always left pre-2000 hour long episodes of Corrie and Emmerdale in their original three part format, unlike many other channels which add an extra break into pre-2000 shows.
