I think at least having the capacity still used is good, might make Okoo a channel in it's own right ironically. Culturebox sharing the capacity gives strong CBeebies/BBC Four vibes which makes sense.
I wonder if the Eurovision semi finals will be under France 4 or Culturebox branding. The first one tomorrow is shown in the listings with Culturebox programmes both before and after it.
Anyone remember France 3's older children's programming blocks?

Ludo and Zouzous, they were both replaced by Okoo

Apparently TF1 and M6 are merging!
And the French regulator CSA is allowing this? Good grief, this is like ITV buying Channel 4 (I hope I am not predicting the future)

Zouzous was originally split up into Debout les Zouzous, Midi les Zouzous and Bonsoir les Zouzous, By the way it never aired on France 3 only France 4 and 5

Shocking isn't it?.
There won't be much plurality left in the French TV landscape, which is sad.
And Canal+ is most of the part encrypted..
I come from Italy, and I know what commercial monopoly, with Mediaset (and even some past cases of corruption scandals with public RAI) , can do to your TV, even if minor La7 and now Discovery , have added some pluralism in recent years.
But yeah, not looking forward to this, especially in an already restrictive market (for non-French operations) such as the French one

I hope that the CSA will intervene, because this is absolutely bewildering
https://variety.com/2021/tv/global/tf1-m...234974913/ Variety here has said that the merger deal would still be subject to approval by the anti trust authorities, which will likely be a lengthy process. And I hope it is, because I seriously have no idea how on Earth the CSA will allow this
France 3's old kids shows before the Ludo era were branded under T 0 3 (2002-2004) France Truc (2004-2006) and TooWam (2006-2009)
I also object to this proposed merger of M6 and TF1! It would possibly bring France's TV industry to its knees

As I said before, this is exactly like ITV buying the whole of Channel 4, I am quite stunned to be honest, to make other examples this is like if in Germany, ProSiebenSat1 buys RTL Deutschland, or Italy's Mediaset buying La7. But I fear that if they are sure of this merger, then they are also sure that the CSA will allow this :-I BTW I saw the lenodal link that Kunst shared before, a guy there said that this is one of these TV history events that happen only once every 30 years!

What if this TF1-M6 merger really does start a chain reaction? And other groups in other countries will do the same? This announcement will open Pandora's Box

Bertelsmann's CEO is beating the drum for media concentration in Europe. That's why he chose to sell M6 to TF1. He wants to do the same in Germany and merge RTL with ProSiebenSat1.
The consensus in France seems to be that the TF1/M6 merger will go through but with a lot of constraints imposed by our antitrust body. TF1 will most probably have to get rid of at least 3 channels on DTT for starters (the maximum is 7 and the two groups currently own 10).

Thank you for answering me, I am wondering if Bertelsmann's CEO understands that his desire for media concentration in Europe will destroy pluralism in European media?
Oddly enough the DG of France Télévisions actually is not opposed to such a merger! She said it on France Inter
