Many have been saying that for years. It's an expensive pointless white elephant.
A great send off for Christine tonight, with some good archive clips from the past.
Of course, the Christine Talbot retrospective on Calendar tonight gave them an excuse to play one of the old themes. They also showed some clips from the old Tonight programme she used to host.
Yes, it was nice to see clips of Christine presenting with Richard Whiteley in the old newsroom days.
Glad to see Geoff Druett again. wonder when he left calendar?
Yes it was a good send off, lots of good archive clips that I haven’t seen before from the early days when she used to use a posh voice
The personal relationships she developed when having to interview people about sensitive matters shows there is more than just turning up and reading the autocue when you become the main presenter. They’ll be big shoes to fill.

He left Calendar in 2003.
Yes his 'final' Calendar was in 2003 just before the last pre-itv refresh was rolled out. But I am sure I have seen a clip of him presenting a bulletin in ITV plc days, confusingly.
Here he is hosting Calendar with Christine in 2004 after he’d left

I think he stayed on as cover presenter for a while
Nice to see it mentioned that Duncan and Christine are the longest ITV Regional presenting duo. 18 years is going to be hard to beat.
With Jonathan Wills and Becky Jago recently ending and also Lucy Meacock and Tony Morris ending tragically last year, I’m not sure how the leaderboard would look to see how it stands and who could potentially beat it - if anyone.
Who is the main presenter pairing (with Duncan) in this interim period now on Calendar? I expect there will be a new presenter announcement in due course.

Yeah, didn't Duncan replace him when that shortlived final non-generic look launched?
