I’m sure that Lara, Michael and whoever comes next will be great but it won’t feel quite the same.
I grew up with the likes of Richard Whiteley, Marilyn Webb and Geoff Druett presenting, and when they moved on, it was different, but also the same. It's the news of the region that's important, the people sharing it with us come and go.
In the North and West version it was hosted by Michael in the studio and Lara is in Bradford due to the city of culture news. Also, I think Calendar has been presented by two men before, I remember when Duncan and Jon Hill hosted in the studio once many years ago.
I can’t help but think that Ian White was deliberately getting into the ‘studio B’ feel tonight by presenting the whole late bulletin standing up in various positions in the studio. They’d usually be sat down.

Do you think they’d need a satellite truck to get the signal back to base for such a distant broadcast!
Although with all the teenagers screaming and shouting in the background echoing across the concourse, they might have done better to just stand outside the BBC building with the bus station in the background
They just ran a cable across the A61 surely…

There was something up with the weather on Look North at lunchtime. Leeds got a pre-recorded pan-regional forecast from Katerina Christodoulou while Leanne Brown did a presenter read without graphics in Hull.
