I believe she was on look north Newcastle before look north Leeds in the past?

Interesting appointment. She had a bit of a stint as an interim main co-host to Harry on Look North Leeds for a while. I can't remember why now – was that after Christa left, and before Amy Garcia started, or was she maternity cover for Amy or something?
Personally, I was hoping that Katy Rickitt was going to become a permanent fixture on Calendar. I thought she suited the programme well, as she seems quite down-to-earth and friendly, and has been a good fit for the ITV audience. I thought Lara came across as a bit formal on Look North, but maybe she'll have a more relaxed style on Calendar. Best of luck to her.

I think that she was maternity cover for Amy in around 2015/2016 time and I agree that Katy has been a good co-host at Calendar.

I’ve looked back on the TV Forum archive, she hosted Look North Autumn 2015 to Autumn 2016 covering for Amy. They initially then kept her on as presenter on a Thur/Fri but she left Spring 2017. I’m guessing Keeley pretty much then replaced her job sharing with Amy.
And Katy has explained why her 6 month secondment has lasted more than 6 months

Really like Lara so think it’s a great appointment.
Understand what you’re saying Spencer but I suppose there’s a difference between being maternity cover and permanent in how much you get a chance to stamp your personality on a role.
We shall see anyway!

He's been doing weather for BBC NorthWest for a while.
On another subject, what's going on here?

Was North of Westminster shared between Leeds and Newcastle? I always thought they had separate editions like with Look North.

A pan regional Look North this lunchtime due to technical problems and the weather map included East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire place names as well the Yorkshire place names.

Pity about that. Hopefully Lara will lose some of her "ice maiden" status

I might be imagining it, but it occurred to me when watching Look North (Leeds) yesterday that the picture quality was looking fairly decent.
Thinking about it, it’s been a while since I’ve noticed the usual Vaseline smeared, dodgy colour-balance look we’ve come to associate with the programme (unless I’ve become so used to it now that it looks normal  ).
Does anyone know if they’ve finally upgraded their cameras and kit? Could we be seeing Look North in HD in the near future?

I mean, I think I’d be booking that opticians appointment Spencer ? It looks as soft and vaseline smeared as ever to me sadly.
Although I can never work out how much is poor cameras and how much is just the fact it’s in a tiny space with no height and how hard it is to then properly light a set that is based on giant screens that throw out light and you have to have the set literally right next to.
Think that’s called sub-optimal.
