Good on the owners of 5 Pin Oak Court. Now that Fremantle will no longer be paying them an annual fee, they might as well make some dollar themselves.

Home & Away tended to do cliffhangers, they only tied up loose ends in a couple of seasons - notably the first one and 2004 into 2005 was also a clean break. In both scenarios it ended with Christmas so that's possibly why - as they'd be off air late November to mid January they tended not to do Christmas storylines every year.

Watching Shortland Street this is an issue I have with the Christmas 'cliffhanger' which continues where it leaves 3-4 weeks later and xmas decs etc vanish within a day or two from everywhere and everything just moves on.
They're now advertising the finale as a "History Making Finale" what ever that could mean.

Channel 10 and Peach are heavily advertising Neighbours coming to an end...Channel 5 hardly mentioning it, no such promos seen on 5 yet! I suspect they know they are the bad guys in all of this so don't want to draw too much attention.

This is Australia. Every finale of every reality show going is advertised in such a manner, never mind a soap concluding after 37 years.
Be interesting to see though if ratings pick up a couple of weeks out from the finale.

Again more the difference in promotion strategies in the two countries - Australia will promote shows months before airing, here it is usually much closer to transmission.

Stop being ridiculous. Not continuing to pay to produce a show which no longer get the viewers to justify to keep paying for it doesn't make them the "bad guys".
I would imagine Channel 5 will promote the finale from this week onwards. It's different from a new drama because it's an existing show.

Neighbours promotion is just secondary and not the main reason he's here.
