I think the depressing part is the speed at which it all went away; almost overnight references to those brands disappeared. I distinctly remember Central as a brand, Granada being at the end of Corrie and YBF, LWT's logo at the end of programmes like London's Burning and even Thames on others. Someone just a couple of years younger than me doesn't remember it at all.

Also a near identical jingle was used for the IBA Engineering Announcements…

I was born just three weeks before the sweeping ITV1 rebrand. It's fascinating seeing something I didn't live through
This month's ident looks nice I think - I do like the patterns they've used:
https://tvhome.co.uk/itv/2021/10/01/0600

Looking on TV Home, it's nice to see there's multiple variants of the logo's setting (the one before The Chase appears to be in sunset/sunrise).
Wish itv 2,3,4 would let one of the main channels artists of work do a makeover of the numbers to create new ident sets for the other channels . Let artists do a selection and pick best look then all itv channels would match main itv look better. Also be unique and it's been a long time since itv 2, 3, 4 even itv be had a new look.

I don't think it's "near identical"- it IS identical, just played at a different speed.

Presumably a library track of some sorts.
Man oh man, look what the cat dragged in: 9 idents for Carlton!

And some of 'em are in full-length aswell!
Even though the quality of these idents vary wildly, I do think they get more hate than they deserve. They're certainly creative and varied enough, though I will concede they're more suited to a "digital" channel than an ITV region.
I think they're generally appreciated for what they are here and it's understood that the loss of the Central cake and Westcountry brand somewhat tarnished their image in those regions. I think for what they are - idents based around a fairly simple text based logo - there are not many better examples.
Westcountry didn't use these idents. They only rebranded as Carlton in 1999.
Yeah, it was Central who definitely got hit the hardest, Westcountry stayed the same until the Hearts campaign

Still, it's kind of a shame these idents were mostly known for dissolving/swallowing/killing off Central's aspirin logo
Sounds of 2004 on BBC Sounds has a lovely little surprise from around 43-44 minutes in - a montage of goodbye announcements from the last day of the regions. Not sure why it was put in Sounds of 2004, rather than 2002, but it's a nice addition all the same - and whoever put it together clearly knows their pres...
A touch off topic but I've been meaning to ask, why do ITV go through the fuss of moving the DOG for The Cube instead of The Cube just moving their graphics? I can understand the DOG moving for sports coverage they might not necessarily have control over.

I heard one possible explanation is so that if they repeat old episodes, there's no possible confusion as to which side the DOG goes.
How many announcers is there on ITV(1) these days?
