Yesterday and this morning a number of OB vehicles have been seen arriving at Windsor Castle; Focus Rigging just arrived in the back of a BBC Breakfast live shot.
Chris Ship seems to be the go to talking head for the royal coverage as he's not just been on ITV's coverage but he popped on the Today Show in Australia. He's certainly earning his keep at the moment!

They really are - lovely team and very helpful.

Someone spotted a Neon truck arriving yesterday and some riggers heading out with a load of fibre as well.
Kinda don’t see why your a fan of closing threads @rob? To me it’s sorta like throwing the same discussion all over the place and making a mess, where things can still be discussed in one thread instead of eventually a multitude of closed threads?

I myself would have just renamed the existing thread “The death of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh” and close it a day or two after the funeral or not at all. That way everything is all together and if fear of mega thread then it’s a rare event so it’s acceptable surely?

I think it was a good call - having another thread for events in the run-up to the funeral instead of a 100-plus-page megathread just makes it tidier and easier to navigate. It also makes it easier to look back on instead of having to trawl through 100 pages.

For the 2012 Olympics on TVF you had different threads for the opening ceremony, the games themselves, the closing ceremony, the news coverage, the international news coverage and the multi-regional channels.

Makes sense. It's not like Australia can send their own reporters, thanks to the quarantine requirement.
Something which will probably go unheeded, but as a user it would be nice if there wasn't constant conversation about the protocols of the forum itself. The old forum became way too bogged down in stuff like that. Can't we just thank the moderators for dealing with it how they see fit and enjoy the thread topic discussions?

It’s going to be a bit of a weird funeral in terms of hardly anyone from the public. Looking at the last main royal funeral speaking to the public and others took up some of the space between the start of the programme and the actual funeral. Broadcasters will have to fill that space with something else.

I also wonder can we expect a very somber title sequence or will be be more clear cut perhaps more suited to the man.
The news is going back to talking about coronavirus now!
BBC setup outside Windsor Castle. - Does anyone know what the weird, small square on the light stand on the right with the cable coming down from it is? Trying to work out what it could be... is it a radio receiver of some sort? https://twitter.com/rosannapw/status/138...1820125186

It almost looks like a Marshal mini camera. I know the media were forbidden from having 2 cameras outside Windsor for Anchor + Guest cameras so maybe a workaround to get a wide shot.

EDIT: Infact its a bit high for that, I still suspect Marshall camera but maybe for a clean shot of the castle.
