Some events use Eurovision Services for their distribution, even if the takers aren't all full EBU members. It's quite a convenient way to get it out to the world, as they'll be able to turn it around onto satellites with footprints over the Americas and Asia. The BBC will almost certainly be making it available at BT Tower - many worldwide broadcasters and circuit providers have a presence there.

Plus Reuters and APTN will be carrying it too, I assume.

I am in two minds about the Sky News set. On one hand it’s too colourful. On the other a black set would look pretty bleak. But it is a funeral.

Eddie butler, rugby commentator, reporting on the Land Rover. unexpected and unusual to see him do something like this?

Not a great view in the dark, is it? It looks like they're covering a solar eclipse. Also all a bit squashed and rectangular, the BBC set feels (and presumably is) a look more spacious and has a nice absence of technology.

The BBC's location studio looks very nice, and shows how far in advance these things are planned - it looks like it has been relit but otherwise appears to be identical to what they used for Margaret Thatcher's funeral in 2013:

They’re using ND sheets to cut the light during the day which means it doesn’t work so well at night. Luckily the funeral is during the day... I doubt they’ll use the studio after 7pm tomorrow.

I think the purple looks fine, and regal.

I am 95% certain that the Sky News funeral set is mainly just recycled elements of the America Decides White House set from last November

Do you think they leave the cameras up overnight or put them away back in the vans until the morning?
