Check the closing shot of the Saturday lunchtime news, when it appears on iplayer.
Said shot is below:
I think i've seen the shot before but I could be wrong considering I don't really watch The News Channel that often unless its a big event.
Nothing new there. They changed the closing shot at the end of last year to hide the broken hoop. When they VR'd the hoop, from what could be seen on screen they didn't switch the shot back properly so the trundle cam wouldn't pan/zoom out correctly. Been like it off and on for ages.

Does someone mind explaining what is/was wrong with the newsroom hoop? Heard lots about it but I don't know what's happened.

2 sections of it are broken. One on the side of the newsroom you can't see on the TV and a section closest to the balcony in vision during the newsroom shot.
You can see it here when they accidentally used a live shot instead of the recorded version (before they sorted a VR version).

Weekend Network bulletins still in Studio E for now.
Gotta love Martine Croxall replying to my tweets even when she’s live on air with the main evening news!

As my wife constantly reminds me, it's only men who can't multi-task
Has the “ 1” numeral been updated to Reith yet or will it soon?
Last night's BBC Look North (Newcastle) late bulletin seemed to play the wrong music with the titles - it was a mix I can't remember hearing before so not sure whether just another cut of the existing, an old cut or something else...
They fix it half way through but thought it was worth a mention!

That's a mix of the opening titles from BBC News Channel with "The Papers" and their normal BBC Look North opening title music. So it appears that someone had either left the audio fader up on the network source or something in the automation hadn't taken it away.
It's the music for The Papers, followed by what sounds like the countdown museum maybe? Surely the music for The Papers is a piece the regional programmes wouldn't have on file?
Presume tonight's by-elections aren't getting any special coverage - just the News Channel?
Unrelated to anything here - Do you think it'd be possible to merge different divisions of BBC News teams into one to save money?

If either result comes in before 2am, then presumably apart from a mention on the ticker, there will be no coverage at all (I doubt Newsday will break their running order to mention UK by-election results).
If a result comes in during the 2am, 3am or 4am bulletins there might be a mention. But the problem the overnight World simulcasts have are making results of two UK by-elections relevant to a global audience, especially during the 2am bulletin that's simulcast on PBS.

Most reputable pundits are saying results will come in between 4am and 6am so we can expect a busy Breakfast and morning.
