I have long thought that these debates add little to the discourse, and disadvantage smaller parties and independent candidates. It generally perpetuates the myth that there are only three or four options worth voting for.

In the case of general elections, I wonder if adding a regional opt section would allow other parties not represented in the main debate who are prominent in the region to take part to some extent?

I think the point about debate Vs questions to each leader individually that somebody made is a good one, I think the latter is needed because clearly there are going to be questions that you want to ask of the incumbent on their track record that would not be asked of the others.

Incidentally, as I suggested the other week, the discussion between Khan and Bailey on BBC London wasn't the only debate of the campaign. All regions with mayoral contests have debates next Sunday afternoon.

Although it looks like Liverpool might have to wait due to sharing with Manchester.

Charlene White mentioned a few days back on Instagram that there is going to be a ITV London debate on Thursday. Not sure what format it's going to take though.

I don't understand why ITV especially don't give the regions an extra half hour for such a debate - ticks a box they otherwise don't tick at all nowadays. Or is it simply the case that regions are now stripped so much to the bone they simply couldn't make the usual 6pm show and an extra show for a debate.

In terms of when the results are expected, here (Hertfordshire) the local paper reports that the ballot boxes won't be opened for 24 hours after votes are cast. As a result, results won't largely be available until Saturday and Sunday

Tonight's Conservative PPB was all in portrait mode. While I understand they're trying to cater for an audience who watch stuff on their phones, it was a complete waste of space for the majority of viewers who will still be watching on a tv.

The BBC London second mayoral debate has already been pre-recorded, Riz Lateef is presenting it again with the main news teasing clips for the rest of the week.

I assume polls are done on what influences how people vote but for me regardless of the party I will actively avoid PPBs. Luckily House of Games > Evening News makes that quite easy.

And portrait mode on TV is certainly not getting my vote.
