I think it's a pre recorded shot from the other side of the newsroom. Pretty sure its been used for the local elections before, and possible the last general election.
Noticed yesterday the screens behind Sir John Curteis was on a pre recorded loop, unfortunately its wasnt that long so you could see people fade into view

There was no social distancing and also I think I spotted Chris Cook in show when I happened to catch it earlier. Feels like an Easter egg - like the footage they recorded for the BBC News at Five when they first moved.

The same clip was used in the 2019 local elections coverage.
Talking about the Five (and the 2013 News at Nine), still wondering why do they just use the pre-recorded footage instead of the live trundle cam feed.
Whenever I have dipped in to the BBC's coverage, Rita has been having a nightmare with the big screen, and struggling her way through. I do like the Election theme music though!

Further to what I said earlier, every time I see it, the software does permanently look as if it's about to crash. There's an uncomfortable lag between touching the targets and the animations running, and Rita understandably doesn't seem confident it's going to bring up the correct slide. The smaller one on the balcony Lewis was using earlier seemed much more responsive.
Not seen much comment on STV's coverage other than the video Rob posted - the "broadcasting village" is surely a "broadcasting hamlet" at best.
I doubt it would get much coverage abroad, even with the Scottish question at play - or not. To me the London media seemed to be pushing that more than the SNP in their coverage.
Obviously nowadays it's not just about what's on screen but the social media efforts too and to be fair ITV Wales has been very good with quick results in clear concise graphics. As Whataday said the decision to go to The Chase more financial than practical I suspect, but what he saw as a quiet time I saw as the time the results were picking up and crucially for me the hour in which both the local results were declared and carried live on the BBC. On the whole though I do think ITV Wales punches above it's weight and probably doesn't get enough credit for the content it does produce week in week out, even if a little bit more of it would be nice.
Have to concur with those who’ve applauded the Wark Edwards partnership. They’ve been excellent. Kirsty, in particular, has excelled.
While BBC Wales have a very nice building to work out from, they did have the oversized white flipper bar and graphics which take up 1/4 of the screen, while ITV Wales keep it simple with the coloured blocks which was more than enough.
Both shows were well produced though and made the most of what they could use.
Unlike the day to day news coverage though the BBC graphics work really well in election mode - and are actually useful and easy on the eye. This time around Sky's were actually painful to watch - I thought people were overreacting when the first caps were posted here but having watched a bit of coverage last night they really weren't good at all.

Bit late to the party but the sets BBC Scotland and Wales have been using have completely blown away anything any network channel has used. Just goes to show what versatile spaces they have.

They were simply ugly, especially using grey for councils with no overall control. We're also slow to rotate at times - I watched for 10 minutes and they kept them on Scotland (due I think to interviewing an SNP member) rather than rotating through the nations.
