Personally, I think Huw and Kirsty have been great today. There were definitely some issues with the delay, just like any double headed program in two locations, some presenters do handle it better than others.

I'm guessing the reason why ITV Wales went back to network at 5pm was so they could recast the set for Wales at Six?

I watched a fair bit of BBC Scotland's coverage yesterday (was flicking between it, the main BBC coverage, Sky and BBC Wales) and have to disagree with you about Curran's tone. Curran struck a pretty good balance between being authoritative and light-hearted when the situation warranted it - there's definitely room for a bit of the latter during an election coverage for both a presenting and viewing POV
In regards to your second point, the dilemma BBC Scotland's news division has is they have four main news presenters (Curran, Martin Geissler, Laura Miller and Magnusson) who are all strong presenters in their own right and would all have prominent roles for events such as an election in a perfect world. However, we don't live in such a world so there's always going to be presenters/reporters (and this goes for all networks) who could/should have more 'prominent' roles but don't

Unusual to see a STV News ticker. I don’t recall ever seeing a ticker of any sort on STV News in my day.
The BBC Scotland set-up looks rather good, I have to say.

I don't think it was essential to change the set back. I suspect they went to The Chase because it rates well and possibly advertising was sold on the network which had to air during that particular show. To be fair The Chase probably rated higher than the results show would have done in the same slot, and during Wales at Six they were still just filling as the results were so slow to come in.

There seemed to be some kind of bug with the touch screen on the BBC that Lewis Goodall experienced on Friday’s Breakfast as well as the BBC News at One and also Reeta had the same problem during the coverage on the News Channel about 7pm.
It looked like both Lewis and Reeta were trying to do the same thing with it and failing.
I’m not sure these touch screens are entirely suitable for broadcast on TV when the same data could easily be displayed in pre-prepared slides using the same live data.

I have to say, in all my 40 something years Ive never watched the Local Elections as much as I did yesterday and will do the same today.
BBC Wales and BBC Scotland both blew it out of the water with their presentation, just flawless. I’d forgotten just how good Kirsty Wark is at election coverage (yes, she’s done quite a few over the years). She and Huw worked great together. I do have to comment on Studio B - she’s looking a little tired. I mean, it has been close to a decade so probably due a strip down and rebuild.
BBC Wales and Scotland are blessed with such incredible space to utilise and they made sure to show both spaces off in all their glory. Central Square won it for me. It’s only now that Covid constraints are lifting are we seeing what they can do with the place.
I can’t comment on ITV Wales’ programming because it was so basic I switched back.
10/10 for the BBC.

Jo Coburn presenting this mornings coverage, branded on screen as 'BBC News' although the election titles where used... She is also presenting from Studio E, BBC World News is doing its own thing i believe...

Interesting that BBC is using the trundle cam with graphics over the newsroom. Similar idea to SkyNews Election with their tapestries over the atrium. I like it, but not sure what that adds to the viewer who just wants to know the result and its not that clear.

Maybe that bit of the surface just needed cleaning? I think that's what I'd have tried first.
What felt a bit daft was not providing her with a keyboard close at hand as a backup… nor would a bluetooth remote be that hard to construct; they've been using the graphics in a pretty limited way so far, so you could assign a button to cycle between the results, share, swing etc. and another to jump back to the home screen. Hell, why not just velcro some physical buttons to the left edge of the screen too?
I've always assumed the reason they've kept the touchscreen is as much to give Huw a brief break from talking / chance to prepare for the next item as it is to show off the technology.
I'm grateful no-one has ever thought it would be a good idea to use them instead of a clicker for the weather (although the Met Office do have one for their weather show).
