It doesn't matter who replaces Dan, what everyone has to remember is nobody is the star of the programme, the programmes the star.

The 'who will be the new Dan' is exactly why I've always thought that Sunday should be hosted by a consistent pair of presenters, who, when the usual Mon-Weds, Thur-Sat presenters take some leave, they step up to the sofa and replace them.
Then, should one of the four leave the show, the Sunday presenter moves in seemlessly to replace them.
Promote from within, less disorientating for the viewers, and keeps the feeling of a 'breakfast family' on screen.

In all seriousness, I totally agree with you. Sunday does seem like it's almost forgotten about and the rota is filled by presenters that are available when they realize that they don't have anyone to present it. I don't mean that is a bad way, but Monday - Saturday seems very stable while Sunday is all over the place with regards presenters.

After the "schedule shake-up", surely the "potential frontrunners" is the very worst kind of newspaper story, where they try and get a few paragraphs by literally picking some names out of the Radio Times. One of my favourites was this Guardian story when Jonathan Ross left the Beeb -

More chance of Carol Kirkwood being the new Pippa on Home and Away or getting a chat show than presenting BBC Breakfast.
I wonder whether John Watson (occasionally presents the Sports slot on Breakfast, as per this morning, and sport on the News Channel) might be a candidate for Dan Walker's job. John Watson is already familiar to Breakfast viewers.
I personally think Ben Thompson would be a good choice, though he's recently left his regular business slot on Breakfast.
A good call in the Dan Walker mould. If he hadn't been tainted by Daybreak I'd be tipping Adrian Chile's as well.
Has Carol Kirkwood even hosted anything other than flower shows outside f the weather?

Unless theres a special helicopter the bbc hire, I cant see Ben Thompson going from Salford to London to present World Business Report. John Watson na i mean Dan was a sports presenter but I dont think John would be a candidate.
There does seem to be a dearth of up and coming male newsreaders/correspondents at the BBC. Of course I’ve no idea what’s happening in the regions but the fact that they had to get a sports reporter to do Breakfast in the first place suggests I’m right.
