Sadly you hear too many stories of Ukranians talking to friends and family in Russia who deny there even is a war and tell them that they're lying when they're told what's happening. Clearly completely taken in, to the point they won't even believe the people who are there.
Of course even over here, with our easy access to information, we have people insisting RT, Newsmax, OAN, Infowars, Press TV and the likes are the ones broadcasting the "real, inconvenient truth", and that's the reason providers refuse to carry them ?♂️
The signal to rt is still there on 14w including French and Spanish I think it was but still repeating that documentary.
The horses are well and truly over the horizon, so OFCOM gently leans on the stable door.
I'm sure certain people will moan about how they've been "cancelled for telling the real truth" by Ofcom and we should be "allowed to make up our own minds" over whether what they say is true or not?

There is always going to be people uncomfortable with things being banned. And that is right and proper. I am in two minds over it’s ban, on the one hand it is broadcasting lies regarding certain aspects of the war, on the other hand to ban them also gives certain groups power. I.e “oh look the government banned them because they are speaking the truth.”
If we are ever in a situation where things can be banned and nobody questions it that would not be good. I am still complexed as to why so many seem to want that world to exist. Some people seem to want to ban anything that they don’t agree with. The default position should be to allow people to make up their own minds, that is correct. Not to mention it’s 2022, no government can really ban anything.

RT was a propaganda channel, no doubt about it.
But I don't need a 20- or 21-year-old to protect me from it.

As the link suggests there were still programmes being made there even if the UK orientated channel had closed. They'd use it as a bureau too.
I wonder if they are willingly closing it down or whether there's an issue with them not being able to pay for their rent, wages etc?

I would imagine that's exactly it. They can't pay using a Russian bank account due to the sanctions, so they defaulted.
Could RT theoretically still stay on Freeview but move to 260's as a streamed channel, similar to Arise News. I seem to recall when viewing some of the streamed channels in this range there being a warning about not being regulated by OFCOM.
What I don't understand is RT has continually broken due impartiality rules and Ofcom didn't revoke their licence, instead slapping their wrists with fines, yet it's taken them to invade Ukraine to do it?
Why didn't they do it when they invaded Crimea in 2014?
