Some schedule changes to BBC World News following the weekend's clock change.

A brand new slot for features at 1630 GMT/1730 UK/1830 CET with The Travel Show, Click and World Questions getting an early evening outing. [For more than ten years, this slot has traditionally been used for extended news coverage during the months Daylight Saving/Summer Time is in operation, e.g Global, The Hub, other extended news.]

In countries where the clocks have changed, Focus On Africa moves as usual one hour later.

HARDtalk moves from 1830 GMT to 2130 GMT/2230 UK/2330 CET, straight after World News America. [Last year, as Covid schedules changes took place, BBC World News simulcast 'The Papers' in this time slot. Before then, a second edition of World News America was shown in this slot.]

This means that the first edition of Asia Business Report is now an hour later for countries where the clocks have changed, but still 2230 GMT/0630 Singapore. North America continues to opt-out of this, with a replay of World News America.

BBC World News is also showing coverage of the start of the Derek Chauvin trial from 1400 GMT/1500 UK today.

I noticed they’ve changed some of the camera angles a bit so the lights that are not working above the grill aren’t as noticeable.

The news channel seems to be taking the world news flipper again tonight with markets and currencies being shown. I wish they would do that all the time, I don’t know why they don’t considering we now get next to no business news on the news channel anymore apart from WBR.



There is some differences between the two though so it’s not exactly the same as worlds.

World News America briefly cut away from Katty Kay tonight, who is currently broadcasting from her basement. Her video froze just as the headlines were being broadcast, there seemed to be a relief presenter at NBH that picked it up for a story, then Katty was back for the rest of the programme.

Isn't the issue that there are now too many dedicated business news television channels these days? It's not that BBC World can't cover it but that it no longer has that as an exclusive niche with the likes of Bloomberg TV serving that market.

I was more referring to the news channel having almost no business news. World news has updates through the day. I wish they would do something like that on the news channel again.

Just out of curiosity, is there any market that doesn’t always play ads? As in is there a break filler of sorts that still exists?

I like BBC's mix of news and business, it's something the business networks can't do. Full coverage of the news, and then a wrap of the business news we need to know. I would say however that Asia Business Report is too short, with too many repetitive bulletins (which air 5 times a day). I think there is room to make ABR 20-30 mins, airing 2-3 times a day, with Sport Today airing the other 2 times. That might not be the best approach, but something to emulate the EMEA morning schedule for APAC mornings would be quite good.

They’ve kind of fixed the grille there is a light there just not whatever was the original one.

Yeah it’s not very bright and it’s not coloured it’s throwing what looks like a little white light so it dosent look completely broke.

Seems it only works as a white light as it’s still off during focus on Africa.

It’s off again it’s like a faulty light only works when it wants too.

It is a faulty light which only works when it wants to. It’s proving hard to fix because of the amount of time the studio is on the air and the continued limiting of contractors in the building.
