Sadly when Naga makes a comment it is portrayed as being "all about herself" or "awkward" in a way that just isn't even commented on with other presenters. Even when the original observation is fairly innocently made the pile on in the comments is usually far from innocent.

Yes, I think we know what you're suggesting, Brekkie, but I feel that folks' criticism is absolutely deserved in this case; there was simply no need for Naga to be that obtuse. The reporter was trying so hard to keep things upbeat and moving along with her 'brownies' comment after the initial frosty reception to the ice cream comment, but Naga didn't make any effort to help her, if anything getting colder the harder the reporter tried. Really poor form and I felt bad for the reporter; that's the kind of thing that can really knock confidence in the workplace, especially when aired live nationwide!

Having only seen that clip, I think what Naga said was fine. She didn’t say ‘your ice cream looks like crap’ which would have been insulting, someone saying that they don’t Ice Cream in general isn’t isn’t really a personal dig. It almost seems like there might have been a slight delay which made it seem more awkward than it needed to be. But if you can’t give your opinion on Ice Cream there seems very few ways you can show bring personality across on TV.

Really!? Talking to a reporter in an Ice Cream factory saying a don't like ice cream which was an unnecessary comment and then when the reporter tries to save it saying well how about brownies I don't like those either. The whole thing was bizarre as Charlie noted.

The whole thing was bizarre as Charlie noted. If it had been that much of an inappropriate comment Charlie wouldn’t have said anything. It probably wasn’t intended to have that awkward reaction and I’d imagine in hindsight she probably would’ve handled it differently. But I don’t think the fact someone in a different building doesn’t like the particular food stuff they make will be taken too personally in the factory. Particularly when it comes wasn’t aimed specifically at their product. If anything they’ll be having a laugh about it.
I think the bigger point, when they’re presenting a live three hour show for half the week. You’d expect them occasionally to not say the right thing at the right time, when they have to talk with very little time to think. Unless you want presenters that are robots.
I don’t agree that anytime someone criticises someone colour, it’s always racism though.

Totally agreed. I watched it live and it was awful.
Naga's sense of humour is for those with an acquired taste. This is not the first time her attempt at humour has backfired.
She knew she's done wrong afterwards because you could see it as the camera panned out. She kinda gritted her teeth as if to acknowledge she'd made the gaff.
1. Naga doesn't like ice Cream
2. Naga doesn't like cold food.
3. Naga doesn't like brownies.
Erm - Naga should not be conducting the interview.

Perhaps Naga Munchetty needs to face a BBC impartiality inquiry and Tim Davie needs to issue a formal apology on behalf of the BBC to all lovers of ice cream, cold food and brownies.
No doubt the Daily Mail will help to whip this all up into a hysterical BBC-bashing frenzy.

What was wrong with that? If Phil or Holly on This Morning said the same thing no one would bat an eyelid at it. Granted BBC Breakfast is newsier than This Morning but there's no problem in voicing your own personal opinion on Ice Cream and Brownies.
The only one who made it awkward was Charlie who didn't need to be so frosty towards Naga after the interview.
It was so unbelievably awkward and I really felt for Hannah who has only just started from Granada/ITV News
Naga may be entitled not to like ice cream but was it really necessary to air that opinion on national TV when your reporter is standing next to the owner of an ice cream factory? It's just common courtesy and politeness that you wouldn't make such an unnecessary comment that is somewhat disrespectful to the owner of the factory.
