Farewell...

Knew this would happen. When I saw the original closing date I thought it was a bit ambitious.
And here's me thinking that I could make enough posts to be able to post in the gallery.
Real shame that people continue to harass the site owner in this way. Whoever is doing it, be ashamed of yourselves for being a toxic ass and ruining someone else's life in the way that you have done so. It's deplorable behaviour and doesn't show you in a good light, it just shows you're hateful.

Rob, its been a pleasure to be part of this community, even if only briefly. Take care of yourself in the future, wherever it leads! Smile

Hopefully someone can set up a good "successor" to this forum quickly, whether it be a forum or a discord or something.
Ive been there. Many years ago i was a mod on a site, which also had forums and a chat room both of which i was also a mod. One day i kicked a couple of members (who had been long standing members) from the chatroom for breaking rules which were clearly stated that if broken action would be taken regardless of how long you had been a member. Other mods and even the admins sided with them. In the coming months my access was revoked so i was just a member. I was abused and treated like an enemy when all i did was enforce rules which were set by the mods and admins. So instead of just walking away, i tried to fight it which made it even worse. It even went as far as hacking my msn messenger account which nobody believed happened, even my own family! So nowadays this is the only place i post apart from the odd post on facebook now and again which i am thinking of deleting as i barely use it.

So yeah.... I've been there, its disgusting really how people can act like that.
Rob, sorry to hear what you've been going through. You're doing the right thing to put your mental health first - that's far more important than the forum. I hope things improve for you soon.

Thank you for your tireless work to get a replacement for TV Forum up and running so quickly last year, and for continuing to run and maintain it up until now.

Thanks also to the moderators and the others involved in the running of the site.

I'm more of a lurker than a contributor, but the work of everyone involved is very much appreciated.

However, I personally would not want to be an admin or a mod. I was a mod briefly many moons ago at MP247. I didn't have the time for it and I didn't enjoy it.

I lack programming and coding ability so someone would need to volunteer for that.

If they were interested, there are certain posters like all new Phil, Brekkie and the old TVF mods who could be mods under new ownership. Or the TVLF mods who do a great job could stay. We could have 3 mods or 10 mods - it'd be up to the forum.

Any way, this and the blue place have given me much pleasure over 20 years. I feel at home here at TVLF and I like my fellow forum posters. How about this as a continuity option?

It would mean, of course, a mod franchise round where the users of the forum elected the admin and the mod. But they were always good fun back in the day.
Thanks for this Johnny. Hopefully Rob might see potential in this idea.
The usual suspects just can't leave well alone and let people have even a little peace, can they? They're disgusting.

Does it bother you if there is a wix advertisement on the page somewhere?

Just an update: My poll will stay up but as the forum is closing earlier now there is a high chance at launch there will be an ad.
Fair play the site is looking far more promising than it did yesterday (which is why you don't go public as soon as you start it) but perhaps worth starting a thread within this forum for any further updates (and similarly for other potential sites too) so this thread remains focused on being a farewell to TV Live and a thank you to Rob.
@Brekkietweets
Yeah I agree with Brekkie, any potential replacement to this forum should probably be in its own thread so its easier to follow and not fill this up with things Rob likely doesn't want to read right now.
Long time lurker here and on TVF, first (and last) post.

Just wanted to say thanks for doing what you did Rob to keep the community going after TVF closed. It's a shame that the internet brings out both the best and worst in people. Your wellbeing must always come first and I respect you for taking a brave and probably difficult decision to walk away.

I hope that everyone can come to an agreement of where to hang out next, and i look forward to reading all the latest TV pres gossip in the future.

Wishing you the best for everything you do from here on in Rob.

Just a thought that has come to mind, I think it's worth a try

I don't post on Metropol as it has a very nasty undercurrent, which I've been on the receiving end of.

A very young and naive Larry used to frequent on Metropol many years ago. Thinking back, I was something of a pest, but I had no intentions of being malicious. The backlash I got from them was far from pleasant, to the point where I felt very unsafe. I know a lot of time has gone by, and those members might not even exist there anymore, but I have to admit those scars are still present and I feel a tad uncomfortable browsing that place even though I don't have an account anymore.

I'm more than happy to join whatever forum the majority flocks to. It's just an issue that numerous members are offering alternatives, albeit with good intentions and shouldn't be attacked for trying to do something positive.

Agree, starting a new thread for details on a successor forum would be best, especially before everything gets archived.
I think the next place needs to be more like TV Forum, a steady ship.

It's not happening on here, it would be difficult to seeing as the person being harrassed has ultimate control.

It's happening elsewhere, sounds like mainly on a particular chat site, but presumably also by other means less easy to ignore. Some of us who've been knocking around for a many years will know the name of the culprit, he's been lingering round TVF and associated sites like a bad smell forever.

My understanding is basically its right-wing snowflakes being bitter about not being able to express their political views on a forum about TV..... yes it's that simple and sad
Seeing as the end is now nearer than expected I’ll make my last post on here.

To all those who have supported Rob and TVLF…Thank You
To all those who have badmouthed Rob and everyone else…you are CUNTS!

Here’s hoping for better times

This is Humphrey Hacker signing off.

Yeah same here Larry I am still afraid to visit Metropol because it just felt like a bad place sniggering at posts here and in the blue place, it’s a bad feeling and does get you down and as I have found hard to shake off.
