  ITV News studio issues
Posted by: Ant - 19-07-2022, 06:31 PM - Forum: News - Replies (39)

ITV Evening News currently on the air, just.

Sounds like issues with the studio.

Full titles played at the start of the bulletin but with just a sting for music, and no studio shots. Very impressive how quickly they managed to get on-air in the circumstances.

Thanks in advance.

BBC Programme Index (Genome) - offensive language
Posted by: itsrobert - 17-07-2022, 04:15 PM - Forum: Websites - Replies (8)

Does anyone know if it’s possible to turn off the offensive language warnings? They have appeared fairly recently and hide the listing details in the search results screen. It takes an additional click to pop open the listing.

Whilst I can appreciate some people may be offended, a search for “Diagnosis Murder” starring Dick Van Dyke doesn’t turn out too well and makes the database cumbersome to use.

Announcer-less copies of Channel 5's "Andrea Coming Soon" idents (2000)
Posted by: DE88 - 17-07-2022, 02:26 AM - Forum: Requests - No Replies

Does anyone have any copies of Channel 5's "Andrea Coming Soon" idents without continuity announcements?

In the run-up to Andrea Catherwood's first 5 News bulletin on 24 January 2000, these idents - featuring her posing on a chair of some sort, as well as a rather funky rendition of C5's jingle at the time - were played at almost every junction.

Two of the idents are on YouTube, and a third is/was on TV Ark - but they're all taken from recordings, with continuity announcements:

Youtube TV becomes the largest streaming LIVE paytv provider
Posted by: Mouseboy33 - 12-07-2022, 06:17 PM - Forum: Mass Media - Replies (6)

With over 5million users YoutubeTv, currntly only offered in the US has become the largest streaming tv provider. Besting longtime rival Hulu w/LIVE TV.
COMCAST/NBC/UNIVERSAL owned Xfinity is down to 12 Million users, losing over 2million users in the last couple of years. Streaming is really starting to take off in the US. With many home cutting and running from tradional pay-tv providers. Because all you need is a internet connection and you can cancel anytime and you dont need to rent an expensive decoder box, which is a compete rip-off.

And so it begins. Sky News to host the first leadership debate. It will be interesting to see if the NKOTB will also be given a chance to host one. (GB News).

I thought John Hoare's blog was worth drawing attention to here. John is a playout Director looking after BBC channels, previously looking after Channel 5 playout but most of his blog is fascinatingly geeky but really interesting niche observations about classic telly and how it was made.

For example, tracking down the origins of Jim Hacker's classic monologue on the readership of various newspapers

His most recent article in on Red Dwarf props and scenery turning up in Chucklevision chronicling props and scenery from Red Dwarf that turned up in Chucklevision is a joy.
