BBC Programme Index (Genome) - offensive language - itsrobert - 17-07-2022
Does anyone know if it’s possible to turn off the offensive language warnings? They have appeared fairly recently and hide the listing details in the search results screen. It takes an additional click to pop open the listing.
Whilst I can appreciate some people may be offended, a search for “Diagnosis Murder” starring Dick Van Dyke doesn’t turn out too well and makes the database cumbersome to use.

-https://genome.ch.bbc.co.uk/faqs - If your search returns any results with the most offensive language (as defined by Ofcom - -https://www.ofcom.org.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0022/91624/OfcomOffensiveLanguage.pdf), you will be shown a warning before you see the listing. Warnings will also appear before you can view original Radio Times magazine facsimiles – four decades of which are available on the Programme Index.
TL;DR - you can't through the site, though uBlock Origin can be set to block the warning but that doesn't expand the listing entry.
As searching for Dick Van Dyke is going to be one of those edge cases (and an example of the Scunthorpe problem) it's probably worth reporting it to -https://genome.ch.bbc.co.uk/contact - because dick on its own as well as being slang is a perfectly valid name in itself (as well as another name for Richard).

Surely of it's suitable for publication in the Radio Times it is suitable for a niche listings website which I doubt is attracting too many younger visitors.

I think it is not only Dick Van Dyke's first name that is causing the problem, because the presenter of the weekend late show on BBC Local Radio stations in the South of England, Alex Dyke, is also getting the offensive language warning - and that's a present day listing!

So Dyke is also considered offensive? They should make it so only the word in isolation is censored. If it's part of a name like Alex Dyke or Dick Van Dyke, then it should be whitelisted.
