The CBS This Morning Saturday branding along with studio are being used for today’s special edition, I’m unsure if this will be a permanent fixture, or it’s just for the interim before they include the programme and do a CBS Saturday Morning.

Interim. The memo sent to CBS News employees said the Saturday edition was being renamed CBS Saturday Morning. Maybe it is just for this week because of the 9/11 coverage.
Given that the Saturday programme has been slightly different to the weekday programme for ages, it probably seemed inappropriate to launch the new look on such a significant day in U.S. history.
Slightly strangely, the set seems to have been rolled back in the above to how it looked a few years ago. If you compare the above video to the below from the 'final' edition of CBS This Morning, then you'll see that they've removed a lot of the silver elements from the desk and rostrum, in favour of the original wood elements and even the carpet segments under each presenter position. which go right back to when the programme first launched:

From what I recall, they made these updates when they brought Norah O’Donnell to the CBSEN chair, as producers tought the wood and carpet flooring of the roundtable seemingly clashed with the predominantly urgent and blue graphics introduced before O’Donnell moved permanently to Washington DC. The silver desk extensions were introduced for the 2016 election night, as the smaller desk couldn’t cope with the big 7-piece team which presented the special, but has since been retained for other uses at Studio 57, and lately to allow social distancing.
I liked this set that was used for CBS This Morning and TBH I don’t really like the new CBS Morning Set.
I agree, Studio 57 was really one of the nicest sets CBS ever had, it was versatile too worked for the Evening news and This Morning. Didn't even look aged after this many years.
Anyway, as expected, no Changes for CBS Sunday Morning. because it's the #1 Sunday Morning show and CBS doesn't tamper with it.

Of course you should never change a winning concept, but this set looks like it was made in the 90s.
I believe that Jane Pauley is actually on CSO/green screen set(possibly at home) since the pandemic. They havent shot her full-on the set in in a couple of years it seems. They have only used the 2 side shots for ages. Nay bother....its a brilliant programme and perfect for a Sunday. It just works. And the set is not used of for much anyway. Its literally just Jane Pauley introducing the packaged stories, there are no in studio sit down interviews or anything. Its not the ONE SHOW. Its way more high brow than that.
For those wondering why they moved to the Time Square space. These big media corporations have reasons for everything they do. and its always about money. Just because you dont understand doesnt mean it doesnt make financial sense for CBSViacom

Exactly. It is a tried and tested format and is one of the few standouts ratings-wise for CBS News, alongside 60 Minutes. And yes, Pauley is introducing stories from a CSO because the show moved to remote production since the pandemic worsened, as a result, the show is now pre-recorded in advance, which reduces the pressure on CBS News' resources.

It looks like many daily studio shows from the ViacomCBS family will move to Times Square. ViacomCBS is known for cutting costs in big amounts, and this is a clear example of it. It is not a bad move, however, as the studio used for CBS Mornings allows for a lot of flexibility and it is designed for flexibility. They also have a pair of smaller studios they could easily use. The once-proud TRL studio has not been used in its full glory since the ill-fated revival of the show in 2017.
