Bilsdale suffered a major flood a few years ago, which seeing as it's on top of a hill seemed bizarre.
Let's hope it was an accident etc, and not those 5G nutters (A number of French TV sites have been torched by them in recent months)
It's not looking good at all going by that photo, one of the local papers has an earlier photo of a bigger plume of snoke coming from the bottom.

That would suggest that it started at the bottom or in the transmitter hall and either the fire has spread up the mast or it's acting like a chimney for the smoke.

Bilsdale is an enclosed tubular mast, not good for letting any heat and smoke escape.
Almost exactly 10 years ago in The Netherlands a similar design mast had a feeder fire half way up, inside.

Hardly surprising that they can't give an estimate of resumption if the fire service are still trying to put the fire out!

That doesn't make sense, wouldn't it have started from the top in that case, not the bottom?
I think that's one person taking a guess. The various services that report lightning strike haven't recorded anything in the area.
Two questions come up mind: are there any other structures in the area that could be used for a temporary service, like the BT Peterborough site being used after the fire at Morbourne?
And secondly - is that second mast from Emley still for sale?

Isn't the second mast at Emley still in use? It only seems like a few weeks ago that the helicopter was buzzing around the main mast, installing the new antenna.
