I guess that since they have screenshots, there isn't any encryption in the way it is on 27.5W. I assume it's on a UK beam so encryption would be an unnecessary complication anyway.

I guess it depends on the circumstances. They might not weigh in on an individual channel or transmitter (device, not site) failure, but perhaps it's worth it for something as significant as this with multiple affected services and the potential for months of disruption.
e.g. like Openreach. They don't normally deal directly with end users, their customers are the internet service providers, but if they're planning to undertake major works in an area then they will publicise it

I think Freeview are acting as the public mouthpiece for this. Although their information is essentially the same as Arqiva's.

Interestingly it seems that Bruce Randall who regularly appeared on those IBA announcements was running Arqiva's communication department until a few years ago, regularly quoted in the press after the Oxford fire a few years ago.

A week on from the fire at Bilsdale, and only the fire service has been able to access the mast, no word that Arqiva staff have been able to do so. Has a start been made on the phase 2 temporary structure, or the equipment that will need to be used with it, or have the issues with the area being a site of special scientific interest slowed that down?
Does anyone know what was in the building that was damaged by the fire, was it the generator, the broadcast transmitters or other services?
Is the 300m exclusion zone still in place?
The date given (28th August) would seem very optimistic for everything to be running from the 80m temporary mast if something hasn't happened already.

This would suggest the exclusion zone is still in place, and will be until the mast is declared safe…

Arqiva’s latest update says they’re working to extend the coverage area of Eston Nab to other areas north of the Moors, such as Darlington, which the temporary mast will be too short to reach. This will almost certainly require some aerials to be repositioned.

So, it's unclear who the exclusion zone is excluding ? The fire service are unlikely to have specialist knowledge of the construction and design of the mast, so others will have to be admitted.

I would contend that the fire service will have some knowledge of the construction of the mast - part of their job is to know about different types of structures, materials etc and how they react in a fire. They will previously have been and assessed Bilsdale as part of routine fire safety assessment work, and will likely have a report on the structure.

I strongly suspect that Arqiva's structural engineers (/ their contractors) and the fire service will be working closely together to assess whether it's safe. Working out what caused the fire is, at the moment, arguably a relatively low priority considering the potential safety risk hence why NYFRS have
said they cannot begin their investigation yet.
