I do remember James Reynolds being mentioned somewhere for something to do with Newsday, although maybe he is just a London back up because I imagine the programme will come from London at some point to cover Singapore. I also remember Kasia Madera saying she was excited to work on it again when it was announced it was coming back. However, maybe she was not privy to the information that it will be single headed from Singapore only. Maybe we’ll even see it from London once a week because as mentioned the only presenter in the Singapore studio just now in karishma Vaswani while Mariko Oi is in Tokyo.

It's on Mariko's twitter. Might have been a bit of tongue and cheek banter with James Reynolds, but sure does give the impression he'd be presenting from London. She also mentioned him in two tweets.

I don't like this new intro. It looks very cheap, especially compared to the old one.
I (as a non british person) admire BBC (World) News for it's strong, distinctive yet diverse openings and it's general branding but if (in case of a redesign) all openings go in this direction, I don't think this admiration will last any longer.

Ahead of the BBC logo changes is it pure coincidence that in the into around the globe there are three partial rings? From the other thread it was suggested that the new BBC blocks will animate, and I wondered if these three partial rings could be related to these new BBC blocks.

Well it’s certainly a move away from the current BBC News titles - there is no logo in a box for one thing - and yes, those very distinctive three red bands are interesting aren’t they!

Well I don't mind the show coming from Singapore alone. It's an Asian morning bulletin and it comes from Asia now. I was never a fan of the dual anchored format, presenters who had no real chemistry and the eternal audio delays.

As for the visuals, it's ok, I guess. I was not thrilled with Outside Source's new look so this is in line with that. Kinda reminds me of what CNNI did in early 2010s.

I'm glad they kept the music, I don't like the intro' s voice over and the graphics together, because the line "Live From London... (anchor name here) is gone so there's the pause before it says "This is BBC News", it feels awkward.

The whole standing position of the London presenter was bad.

Just saw Newsday for the first time since it's return. I think I'll miss the London and Singapore joint presentation. It's what made the programme unique, but I understand that savings have to be made. Also, probably makes sense not to have London input during the Olympics as presumably there will be a lot of crossing over to Tokyo over the next couple of weeks.

As for the titles, I just keep thinking of Germany given the colours used match their flag. I preferred the brighter yellows and oranges previously. I don't get the red D either?

Despite all this, it's nice to have a slightly different programme back on air.

The article is only available to subscribers but from the front page it would seem the BBC have 'agreed to amend' the branding.

The sub-headline on the article says Scottish Opera contacted the BBC about it though.

Not sure exactly why (political?) the BBC have agreed to change it as it's certainly not the most original idea - I'm pretty sure I've seen similar used elsewhere?

Oh jeepers. That's a really awkward faux pas that's come from the BBC of all places. What has taken place here is that a breach of copyright has been made by the BBC & changes must be made right away to rectify the error.

I mean in one way; I am glad to hear that the BBC have responded quickly in this instance to the people who are running the Scottish Opera organisation so that changes can be made to the new Outside Source logo right away to keep both parties happy. However questions must be asked here as to how the graphic design teams who were assigned to rebrand Outside Source have actually allowed this situation to happen in the first place.

I also cannot believe that anyone here from this website actually did not spot this error while they were viewing the new look for Outside Source on the BBC NC or WN on their own tele's at home. How come any of you guys didn't spot this error while seeing this new look for the programme?

No it doesn't. Until now it only simulcast from midnight. So showing the 11pm Newsday is new, and yes, doesn't make sense.
