Quote:Jermaine Jenas and Ronan Keating join Alex Jones as new permanent co-presenters on BBC One’s The One Show

Slightly surprised Jenas doing Monday-Wednesday as it will limit his work for BT Sport especially for UEFA Champions League but it shows how high regard he is held in with the BBC as he is probably being groomed for a high BBC Sport role.
Makes sense, they've both done weeks & weeks of cover over the past 12 months.

Interesting that it has taken them a whole year to actually replace Matt Baker. But I wonder if the decision has been made due to Alex's upcoming maternity leave? We might have these 2 permanent male hosts alongside a rotating set of females to cover Alex?
Alex Jones just promoted Chiwetel Ejifor to "Academy Award Winner" in a voiceover. He was nominated for 12 Years A Slave but didn't win.
I'm a little disappointed Alex Scott isn't getting the job but equally not surprised. Hopefully Alex Scott will be key in covering Alex Jones maternity.

I’m surprised they’ve even made this announcement now with Alex about to be off the show for a number of months soon.

I’ve liked the mixture of presenters they’ve had since Matt left. It keeps the show watchable at times due to the variety of faces hosting it - much like Have I Got News For You.
I’m more disappointed that’s coming to an end. Mainly because Jermaine and Roman were not my favourites out of all the frequent mixture of co-presenters.
Has The One Show got much life left in now? It’s been mostly utter drivel for a couple of years - I can’t imagine the vacuity of the new hosts will add much to the formula?

Not gonna lie I’ve been asking that question since about a week after it began.
The One Show is never going to be essential viewing here, but it generates decent numbers against Emmerdale and is easy to change into an obit show when a celeb passes away.
Just heard, although it was announced last week, after 14 years, The One Show titles are being given a much needed revamp!

The concept sounds pretty poor - very lockdown oneness.
I was hoping they'd finally dump the theme tune.
The One Show new titles sounds awful. Isn’t it bad enough that we’ve had nearly 18 months of zoom interviews without more poor recordings of people jigging along to the theme tune from home?! Sad

Maybe it's a similar rush job, being done because when the lockdown Oneness idents are replaced, it won't be with the previous Oneness idents, but with a new package that uses the Reith font? Since the One in The One Show's logo is the same as the BBC One logo, if that's getting Reithed, then so is The One Show.

FFS. No. All submissions must be recorded in Landscape orientation.
Assuming there'll be more than one 'viewer' in the title sequence - How great is that going to look switching from landscape to portrait and back again in a 10 second sequence?
