As Loose Women seemed to have a few technical problems with their video call capabilities today, it poses the question. If This Morning & Good Morning Britain are able to have four presenters in the studio especially as restrictions ease, why do Loose Women still have their fourth presenter on video call?

Good Morning Britain now have the "MegaDesk" which allows social distancing for 4+ people, and This Morning has multiple areas of the set to place presenters and guests (breakfast bar, kitchen, sofa, table, the corner where they do fashion etc). With Loose Women, there's just the one desk.
I wonder if a Loose Women “MegaDesk” is incoming?
Maybe not worth it though, as presumably post-Covid GMB will still want to utilise that big space for debates. Whereas Loose Women will likely want to go back to a cosy 4 round the table look when social distancing allowed.
Well LW could easily sit outside in chairs, as they did last Monday, weather permitting.

Yeah, it's simply due to social distancing. They had 6 on the panel on their 'Rule of 6' special as this was done outside to celebrate the rule change, and I suspect we'll see more specials like that as more rules are relaxed over the coming months.
Honestly though, I don't see why they need to change it. It's working as it is, and it would be a hassle to introduce anything else like a huge desk or similar right now unless it was a permanent change. As Ash says, they'll probably carry on like this until they need to and then get back to the cosy 4-around-the-table look as soon as social distancing is lifted. Whenever that may be!
Considering how GMB have got their desk, I am sure they could have their own or as mentioned use armchairs (as per The Talk). Given that they have extra space from no audience, they could fit it in easily.
However, I expect travel is the real issue. A number of the panellists live far away and probably are either not keen to travel and/or stay in hotels or ITV don't want them to, so the digital option remains best.

But even hypothetically that's not just a matter of fitting in 4 armchairs - that completely changes the dynamic of the studio: how it's lit, how it's shot, how the panellists are mic'd up, what they wear even.
Travel may well play a part in the decision, but honestly I think the biggest reason they're sticking to this setup is... that it works. Why bother shaking it up for no real benefit, especially when they'll just have to change it all back again when social distancing stops being a thing.
TC2 is much smaller than TC3 and TBH it's not really worth spending extra money on a desk that may end being redundant in a year's time.
It works well as it is. The 4th person ‘down the line’ I actually think enhances the show.
Covid has also proved they don’t need a live studio audience. I wonder if it will ever return ?
It's much better without the screaming audience and the clapping getting in the way of hearing the women's points.

See, I'm the opposite. I feel it feels so "dead" without an audience. It needs to return ASAP
From what I've seen, the 4th panellist struggles to get involved as normal, as it is a lot more difficult to jump into a conversation and comment using the technology. It tends to be the anchor asks what they think on the subject rather than take part in the conversation naturally.
Given that they often need to add extensions when they have extra guests in normal times, a longer (or more flexible) desk wouldn't be a waste after COVID.
But sometimes it is better to have fewer people "jumping in" to a conversation and to have it conducted in a more orderly fashion. I think it actually works and gives them potential to vary their panelists a bit more if they don't have to be in the studio. Although I'm sure they'll return to 4 in the studio when they can I do think they'll continue having panelists contribute remotely from time to time.
