I was a long time lurker of TV Forum, never signed up, thought about it, but never did and then found found it was closing. I knew about TV Live and saw that Rob was launching this place when lurking on the other forum, so I jumped to sign up. The only TV presentation based forum I had been was the CNN fan one. Anyway, I'm glad I did sign up, saw many names/people from the blue place and it was pretty nice here, at least for me.
I am thankful to you Rob for taking your time to set up this place, putting together the work, effort and time into making this work and keeping up with the stuff that goes along with running this place I don't even know about. Glad to have been a "founding member". I'm also sorry for the reasons that you have decided to close it, and hope the best for you in the work you do in television presentation and in life in general. It is a shame we can't have nice things and some have decided to spoil things and it's showing how bad our modern internet has gone, and again Rob, I'd rather your health be first than some forum running, it wouldn't be right if your miserable running this place, so I understand why, even if I'm a little sad about it. It's also been nice meeting the folks here, and it would be nice to see you again, so hopefully there's a place in the future we'll be able to meet again, I'll be glad to probably give another place a try. It would be nice to have an agreed upon place and I guess people can send me links to consider it, that would be kind and thanks in advance. Hopefully over the month we get something. Thanks Rob and glad to have met folks here.

I've spent over £500 on making this forum work, that's money I won't be getting back in a hurry. It was a necessity to ensure that the site stayed online. If somebody wants to replicate TVLF or even TVF, having a forum hosted by Wix or Proboards is NOT the way to go about it I'm afraid. You'll have to spend some money to do what Asa and I have done.
I await Clean Feed's announcement with interest, as right now, in my honest opinion, it's the best option out there. It's an established brand, and I'm confident that their design team will produce a site that is absolutely amazing to use.

Rob, I'm so sorry that you've been through a tough time recently. Sad as I am to see this site close down, I fully understand and respect your reasons for doing this. Abuse and derogatory comments cannot and should not ever be tolerated. You didn't deserve any of this. I honestly can't blame you for stepping away. Do not feel guilty about this decision- not for one second. You are absolutely doing the right thing.
Above all, I want to say a massive thankyou for putting so much time and effort into this amazing website over the last 16 months. You should be very proud of what you've managed to achieve and I hope you realise that the vast majority of us on here really do appreciate your efforts. I wish you all the very best. Yes, the random banning of people on Twitter, which I wasn’t aware of, suggests possibly dubious people skills - something which doesn’t bode well for fair and friendly forum moderation. I also hope we won’t have to begin every post with a word in capital letters in square brackets.

I am sorry to hear that this forum is closing down. However, I would like to congratulate Rob for putting his mental health first. It takes a lot of courage to take this step and I wish Rob all the best for the future. Fingers crossed that another Admin can take over the running of this forum.

Fully agreed. As a mostly lurker, the Wix site is - I'm sorry - very poor compared to both TV Forum and this site. The design is cheap, it's hosted on a freebie web host, it doesn't have its own domain and it smells of "quick, get something up as quickly and cheaply with as little effort as possible to grab users from TVLF". The Discourse site linked earlier looks a lot nicer, and I don't mind Discourse myself, but I understand if others have reservations about it. The eventual successor forum will be run by someone who has experience in developing and operating websites (including knowing what to do when things inevitably go t*ts up) as well as skills in community management and the ability to put together a trusted team to run the thing with them. It won't be run by the first person who sees the opportunity to be the all-powerful "Forum Owner", chucks a free forum on a free webhost and goes "hey, come over to my place!". Please stop making forums on freehosts.

Jesus, can people stop creating new forums and discord servers. Especially people who have no clue what they are doing. Just for Cleanfeed to reveal their plans, rather than going to some new forum ran by a 12 year old who isn't willing to put any money into it.

You'll have to spend some money to do what Asa and I have done. I am sure that everyone who has tried to create something has done so with the best intensions - I certainly have as I have enjoyed the discussion both over at TVForum and now here. I'm sorry this place is closing and am actually really annoyed that Rob has been pushed into this position. For my part, I am a lifelong pres geek, I even used to draw out TV idents when I was a kid - which is weird, when you think about it! These days, I have an IT background and should be capable of keeping a community vaguely functioning... and picking up the pieces as/when mishaps occur. The forum software I have chosen is discourse and is installed on its own virtual server. Discourse is modern community software that's not just a bunch of php scripts or a free host provider. My intention is to quickly build a team of willing moderators who want to help build a community of people who have an (unhealthy) obsession with TV presentation, but who will discuss and debate with good humour. If you want to participate, I'd love to see you over there.
