Pretty bad technical faults on UTV Live this evening if anyone caught it. They also played the entire closing music soundtrack at the end with the endcap to make up time https://youtu.be/JzZiG6aThrc

Week 4 of Pamela being on 'Annual Leave' and once again ITV Continuity introducing 'Let's join Pamela Ballantyne for UTV Life'! Don't they just get it??
This is highly unfair on stand in presenter Paul Riley not getting the recognition he deserves for hosting the show. Is it acceptable for the same 'mistake' to happen 4 weeks in a row? Brekkie? Can we agree this is a lack of due care and attention or just plain incompetence? Does anyone think if the Belfast booth was still operational this would be happening?

This is extremely boring.

If your till was down £50 for the last 4 Fridays would you not expect Asda to look into it, or just shrug their shoulders and say oh well mistakes happen? If News at Ten was announced to be presented by Trevor Mcdonald for the past 4 Fridays would that be acceptable? Or would that need an urgent rectification by ITV? So why are the UTV issues any different?

It's the fact that for 4 weeks now this has happened. A one off mistake is a mistake (you give someone the wrong change at the till for example). 4 weeks of the same thing happening surely is not? Hence my example of till money in a shop relates to these errors we seeon UTV.

But nobody died, nor did they the several times playout from Belfast failed causing VT clocks to show on air, breaks opted into and out of early...
How quickly you forget. Honestly, you need to let this go. It's going to make you ill. What the hell ? Nobody dies because of any of the issues that people bring up on this forum But it is odd behaviour from one of the main channels of the UK showing that either they don't bother apparently to check their output or they are too cheap to re record an announcement for when someone is on holiday (22-07-2022, 07:07 PM)This is UTV Wrote: This is highly unfair on stand in presenter Paul Riley not getting the recognition he deserves for hosting the show. Not sure why you're bringing me into it but the issue here is you've moaned about every little thing for a couple of years so when you do have a valid complaint it falls on deaf ears. The fault surely lies with Belfast for not getting the message to network to update the announcement. Considering regional news across the country can play the correct announcement most of the time, and have updated versions when required, it seems to be a communication issue with Belfast that is at fault.

Never posted on the forum before but have been reading since the old forum, and I've read about the issues with continuity many times in this thread, and while it's not exactly perfect I really don't think it's the end of the world.
I don't think it's a big deal in the grand scheme of things - to my mind it's near the same concept as when "Lorraine" or any show named after a person is being covered for by a different person, does it mean that the presentation in that case would need significant change because of it? Personally I wouldn't think so - most viewers can work it out. The solution really is simple - either Belfast have to communicate the correct presenter as Brekkie mentions to network, or even just don't mention a presenter at all. While it may show a lack of attention in their continuity announcements, I don't think any of this calls for significant change. It's a minor issue, and really local programmes even existing is surprising in the current climate of constant cost cutting.

Just a quick question, why can't ITV hand over to City Quays during the 'local' input? Just like UTV Live at 6 when the ident is played out from Belfast and then use a local v/o from news to intro UTV Life?
The news intro sounds misplaced as it's the only time UTV takes a local v/o on an ident. Surely Chiswick can set it for local output at 19.00.00 on Friday and gallery at City Quays plays out until going back to Chiswick? It can't be that big of an effort? I stand to be corrected if some other technical reason exists? |
