Wimbledon 2022
I'm not personally a fan of tennis but so far this week hasn't been satisfactory for anyone.

Wimbledon should have been scheduled on BBC1 1900 to 2200 and the key BBC1 programmes shifted to BBC2 (as they did for The One Show & EastEnders).

If, like tonight, Wimbledon runs short then they can drop in something like Not Going Out etc. - anything that is being repeated.
It's what I'd do if I was in charge. A much cleaner solution. I'd even potentially move the national news and even go as far as putting the regions on iPlayer given most of them are still SD so aren't going to be ruined by iPlayer's technical short comings.
I don’t know why they don’t air Today at Wimbledon at 10:40pm on BBC One where it should air every night, and they could have regular features and pundits like the Olympics highlights shows, rather than the current format where it may or may not air.

The only issue they would have would be on Thursday with Question Time, although I’m sure something could be worked out

It could always air later that night or Question Time could move earlier or later.
Lol at John McEnroe being shocked that Today at Wimbledon is actually on air!
Of course this channel changing and heavily disrupted is almost totally the BBC's fault, but the AELTC's organising should share a little of the blame with starting Centre Court later than they did in 2019 and earlier and having longer breaks between matches on Centre.

Good news! Today at Wimbledon has actually made it to air and Clare Balding has finally appeared in vision!
Mashed together sports commentary often is quite fun, this comes at it from a different angle  Big Grin

I think it’s slightly annoying that the outside desk looks nothing like the inside studio desk, or indeed what exactly the inside studio desk is supposed to resemble this year. Not that we actually see much of the studio these days with a lot of Sue’s links either being courtside or out of vision
Interesting choice of Not Going Out episode tonight, it is the same episode they played when they moved Emma Raducanu’s match over to BBC One last year and it finished early because of her injury.

And the BBC Sport logo on the desk is different to the logo on the microphones...

The logo on the desk looks a bot odd for some reason as well.

Surely they can drop it for a week or two. Perhaps the bigger issue is clashing with World Cup/Euro highlights every other year, and I've no doubt QT is probably dropped for them anyway.

Strange for it to be used twice at last minute yet it rarely gets a scheduled repeat run.

What a coincidence! And, agreed, especially since the episode is not so much of a 'family-friendly' one; they had to cut it so it could air pre-watershed when there was a repeat run a few years ago I believe... (Tonight's repeat was the uncut version, looking back at the final five minutes or so now). I digress here, but would've been nice to see an episode from one of the two recent series shown instead given they didn't exactly set the ratings alright first time round.
Lot of people on Twitter very unhappy at missing the finale of Sewing Bee, having set it to record and now ended up with tennis and Not Going Out.

It's at the point you might as well just manually record both channels all night if you're out and don't want to miss something!

I believe they're repeating it at the weekend, in a Saturday morning slot - not seen any communication about that though.
It's usually on BBC2 on a Saturday morning anyway.
