4Music to become E4 Extra

Random, if not significant question: Will E4 Extra be streamed online or will the channel primarily just be on television, akin to how 4Music typically runs? (as a majority of it's programming can't be officially streamed)

It wouldn't feasibly make sense to move programming to a channel that some who use All4 live won't receive if they've ditched the aerial.

It wouldn't feasibly make sense to move programming to a channel that some who use All4 live won't receive if they've ditched the aerial.

I assume it will be streamed on All4 apart from the 2 hours in the morning when music videos are on air.

Promo just aired at the end of The Simpson for E4 Extra with the new logo on Channel 4. The logo only just fit in the square where the channel logo goes.

The changes are now live, seamless on 4Music -> E4 Extra but less so on the Box Hits -> 4Music changeover...

Box Hits ran until 6am, at 6am we got the Box Hits ident multiple times in a row with the last of which froze on the last frame. It remained frozen for nearly 40 mins before crashing into 4Music...

According to Wikipedia, The last song ever on box hits was Flo Rida's good feeling. And for everyone who don't know Flo Rida, he's the man who got San Marino 12 points for last years Eurovision. Meanwhile E4 Extra are currently playing music.

The E4Xtra dog still takes around 15 seconds into the start of the programme to come onto screen, just like 4Music dog has always done.
All other 4 dogs are on screen the second the programme starts.

Why this anomaly for 4Music/now E4Extra?

Looks a pretty lazy rehash of the E4 break bumpers, and weird to add the extra E when it is written as "XTRA" in the logo, nicking the E from the 4.

That does show that E4 Extra is continuing to be played out by the Box Plus side rather than the Channel 4 side.

When I was in contact with the then programming director, I did ask him about that

The gfx pause is a set timing on media type, it is designed for elaborate acquisitions where the graphics clash so it guarantees we are out of the intro/outro, most stuff we have is now edited so is less of an issue but it’s there for safety, also it allows a firing structure for the P logo (product placement)

The trailer style is basically the same as E4, just instead of the multiple different fonts being used when the title bounces on screen, it's only the paint font 'Extra' is typed in, then at the end in a similar way the break bumpers, they've just slapped the 'Extra' in light red over the repeating E4 pattern.

There is a 'watch live' button for E4 Extra on All 4's TV guide page, but clicking on it just gives an error message currently.

Decided to check 4music.com and it appears they've switched it over, what was the old Box Hits feed is now 4Music, no "UNAVAILABLE FOR STREAMING" in sight.

EDIT: Turns out, the current "4Music" feed on Box Plus is re-broadcasting E4 Extra, similarly with no "UNAVAILABLE" slide. I assume this feed will soon crop up on All4 shortly.
