A lovely and emotional tribute from Dickie Bird too, loved his anecdote about them being at a cricket game where the camera panned to them and Harry was fast asleep!

Pfft, no more of this kind of nonsense please. It's not for you to tell people how to feel, or appear to feel.

When the news was announced, people assumed Amy hadn't known until that moment because she was so visibly upset when she'd previously been holding it together. How many of us have had the same thing, whereby only when we tell others how we feel do we become conscious of our pain? I'm not criticising anybody for (presumably) misinterpreting this – but the point is that you never know what is going on in someone's head, and feelings are as messy as the rest of life.

With respect I wasn’t telling anyone how to feel or appear to feel. I was just expressing my opinion. Yes of course people deal with grief in different ways. I was struck with the difference between Amy and Lara.

(Slightly off topic I do know about messy feelings)

You know, in hindsight they maybe should have spent maybe half of today's programme on tributes (among other news) then found something disposable in the schedule to opt out of for an hour.
6.30 the only slot really tonight thanks to the unpredictability of Wimbledon which will likely take out the 8.30 programme.    I think it's fine to dedicate the bulk of the programme to the tribute in these circumstances - it is where viewers expect such things to be done.

They did, an extra 1’30
Nice tribute on South Today this evening too with the likes of Jane Hill and Fred Dinenage contributing. Sally Taylor also making an appearance too.

They're both women and that trumps regionality; ITV guidelines
Really nice tribute package on Look North Hull by Caroline Bilton as well with contributions from Sophie Raworth and Damian Johnson among others.
Write that down in your copybook now

That really was a fitting tribute, very well done by Look North, Look North Hull, South Today and ITV Calendar.

That's why my recording which I even padded out cut out as the team applauded at Amy's sign off.
It looks like iPlayer have made sure last nights 6:30PM Yorkshire Look North tribute show is available to watch for 14 days rather than the usual 24 hours, well done BBC!
From a presentation point of view, the opening titles and that version of the regional news tribute were a perfect package for such a sad edition.
I've posted Gordon Burns' tribute - now here's Carol Vorderman's.
