Well for all the talk of Wimbledon bringing in a new look for BBC Sport it hasn't happened. We're in an interim period with new blocks and nothing else it seems just like BBC News.

New logo on the desk, old logo on the microphone muffs

Updated BBC iPlayer logo here, doesn't look right.

Just me that thinks this...

... looks absolutely horrendous?

(For what it's worth - I think the rest of the graphics I've seen look nice enough.)

Here's full opening theme of Wimbledon with new BBC Sport branding. Some boxed animation were similar to previous one.

Yeah that’s definitely bespoke to Wimbledon it wouldn’t be part of the official graphics package.

No it's not just you, it is just way to busy with the circular Wimbledon logo really not at all integrated into the entirely rectangular graphics set.

More broadly, though, I don't dislike the new graphics, but I'm 100% sure this is a downgrade. The 2017 graphics were probably the best that BBC Sport have ever had - clean, simple, versatile and readable. Though I'm not really a fan of gradients, I'll take them over the DIN monstrosities we had in the 2000s or the blocky 'every 3D effect possible' graphics of 2010-14. Will have to wait to see further applications across the rest of BBC Sport to make a full judgement.

Also, once again, the new BBC logo is being used at a size that is far too small. Not only does it look better when it is bigger, so it isn't doing it any favours, but the letters in the blocks are virtually unreadable at the size - particularly in SD/low quality iPlayer feed or on a phone. As I've said since the beginning of the rollout, they really should just use three squares when they are using the logo at that size.

These feel quite early noughties. Not really sure what to make of them but not the usual standard we've come to expect from BBC Sport.

Also quite surprised the box logo survives in the titles when dropped elsewhere, but that's the sort of consistency we've come to expect from the BBC - and TBF the boxed BBC Sport logo alongside the offiical event logo works quite well.

The iPlayer logo is bad enough but the rest of it just looks like something that might get three stars in the gallery.   Doesn't seem to match either the new BBC Sport graphics, the old ones or the official Wimbledon graphics and the font is horrible.

Yes, these are bloody awful!!!! Whoever said ‘early 00s’ has it spot on - these really remind me of the 2001-3 years when lots of experimentation was going on re graphics in BBC Sport, before they finally got a (very good) consistent set in early 2003.

I really rate the 2017-era Reith graphics and I don’t think that they have aged at all, so it’s such a shame to see them replaced by something that is so obviously a downgrade. A few more specific comments: the coloured gradient across the top of each graphic seems really garish, and there just isn’t anything ‘to’ the graphic, with only the gradient-y background and floating text on top of it. I’m sorry, but I’m really unimpressed by this.

Much like other things (BBC One idents?!) it strikes me that BBC Sport graphics set seem to alternate between ‘really good’ and ‘not so good’ - the 2003 set were simple yet effective and worked really well for three years. I found the 2006 set to become quite dated quite quickly (although they really made a statement at the 2006 World Cup), and was very ready for the 2010 graphics set to appear. I thought those were absolutely brilliant, particularly shining in the 2012 Olympics, but they were a great graphics set all the way through their lifespan, before the 2014 graphics were quite a bit less impressive and too bezel-ed and effect-y. But then the 2017 graphics have been, and continue to be, really brilliant.

…so if these really are the new package then this is a real disappointment - if we have to have these for years across all sports, then I think this is a real downgrade and the worst BBC Sport graphics package since the year 2000. I know that’s quite a statement, but I really think that.

…and it’s very BBC for the new graphics to be rolled out, but for the mic muffs to still have the old blocks on them!!!!

The new graphics seem OK, but based on what other users are saying, improvement is needed.

Not a fan of this blurred look of these graphics at all. Blur round the edge and blur white into the 3 colours... Text just plopped in the middle.

My fav BBC ones where the 2004-06 red/blank straps that connected to the yellow line/logo.

Personally I preferred the old ones, but they were five years old which is quite a long run for a sports graphics package, so can be understandable that a change was looked into.

Another graphic. Apart from the channel logos on a black button and the uneccessary S1, S2 etc. not too bad.

i guess i'm one of the odd ones out who likes the new graphics - how little there is of them at the moment.

though i do think the blocks in the logo animate a bit fast...
