No reason why a UK Eurovision couldn’t work in the Sanremo style, would prefer it wasn’t used to select the entry initially but you could have an act from each area to represent their music scene. Would help bring through some undiscovered talent in both music and songwriting and build it up to eventually be the selection show.

Isn't that kind of adjacent to the remit of BBC Introducing?? I can see such a show working in collaboration with Introducing, because though it gives a platform to artists the no of people who know abt Introducing is still way too low

As expected, The Weakest Link recommissioned. Have to laugh at this guff from the BBC.

A rare opt out of the Saturday night schedule tomorrow night as the BBC air the Stereophonics Live from the Principality Stadium at 8.40pm on BBC1 Wales and BBC2 elsewhere.

Means we have in Wales:
BBC1: 7.05 Weatherman Walking, 7.25 Weakest Link, 8.10 Catchpoint, 8.40 Stereophonics, 10.40 Would I Lie to You, 11.10 A Simple Favour
BBC2: 6.50 Paul McCartney at the BBC, 8.20 Pointless, 9.10 Casualty, 10.30 BBC News, 10.50 Later, 11.40 Dads Army

And elsewhere:

This is why losing BBC Two Scotland was a bad idea, you can't swop schedules in this sort of scenario. If this was Texas at the Hydro, there'd be nowhere to put the displaced network shows.

It's still a bad idea, sooner the BBC realizes this, the better!

Of course, this is slightly more complicated than it was going to be because, for the second week running, that episode of Casualty is causing problems - it's actually going out this week, but it's been punted after the watershed. So it was supposed to be a fairly straightforward switch at 8.40 with Casualty and the news going to BBC2 and Stereophonics to BBC1, but now Pointless has to go with it as well and everything shuffles around.

Do love the news being relegated in Wales for a Stereophonics concert. Didn't even do that with Live Aid!

Yes, noticed that in the printed guide.  Surprised Wales weren't able to just take Catchpoint and Pointless as originally scheduled to keep things simpler given it's not unheard of for the nations to occasionally air shows slightly ahead of network.

My impression was it was "live" - isn't tonight the second of two dates?

Show started about 6 I think, Tom Jones was on earlier as well - it'll be edited before broadcast I'd have thought (just in case!).Was hoping to find the satellite feed for the live live programme but failed! Wonder how much it must cost the BBC to show something like this. Also wondered how it would be fed into the network if not via satellite, I guess BBC Wales HQ is over the road, a few long cables ought to do it!!
