BBC Newsline extended tonight from 10.30pm-11.20pm after the death was announced of the former First Minister of Northern Ireland David Trimble who served as the 1st First Minster of Northern Ireland under the NI Executive in 1998 alongside the SDLP and was a broker of the Good Friday Agreement.

A tiny snatch David Trimble losing it with Noel Thompson 20 years ago, shown last night on the BBC 10pm news, prompted me to dig out the clip of the incident. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9hQTCiaLpU I forgotten Noel Thomson had retired (not entirely his own idea !) in March 2020. He was an excellent presenter.

This evening’s BBC Newsline seems to have been extended as well, running until 7:25pm.
