That is surprising.   Also confirms that the set will be used for future elections, justifying it's cost by ditching the need for purpose built election sets.    I think we knew after 2019 that was on the cards but it's a shame the big TV studio election sets will now likely be consigned to history. However suspect practically they just don't need the staff in the same studio in the way they used too as well.

I can only echo what everyone else has said so far that, from first impressions, it looks fantastic.

I do think though it’s a real shame that the One won’t be coming from B. Whilst I understand and appreciate the reasons, it’s going to seem a bit strange that one of the main national bulletins won’t be coming from the same set as the other two.

This could be a stupid question here but is BBC London having it's first bulletin from this studio tonight as well or will that come at a later date?

Also if Studio D is no longer being used for BBC London. What happens to it then?

The cameras seem quite ugly and intrusive compared to those in those in E, though of course I suspect the idea is they'll never really be seen on screen - though of course we know robotic cameras have their own thoughts on that.

As for the regions I guess they'll get something based on the desk half of the set with a vertical plasma and a big screen.

Sounds like it’ll be the home for Laura’s new show then if ‘a whole host’ of political programmes will come from there. The transition national to regional will be interesting too if BBC London is in there too. Looks great though, very Scandinavian looking and I like the stairs - we’ve been used to seeing them in the main newsroom so it does give the sense it’s part of the building (even if it’s far, far below!)

Looks to me like the new set goes to at least one wall of the studio, which will be part of the reason it looks bigger. I assume part of the reason they can do this, aside from being a fixed-rig set, is that they no longer need to access the studio door to change furniture.

Those cameras are a monstrosity, though.

My understanding is that BBC London isn't moving to Studio B straight away, it's for the future

If you look at one of the monitors in the back wall as Huw walks round the studio you'll see a preview of what you'll see right at the end of both bulletins. This is the thing I've been hinting at that people here are particularly going to like
