I’m not entirely sure where CleanFeed get their info from but Reporting Scotland won’t get a new set until the start of 2023. A major refit of Studio C will start in
November - including STC gallery, the studio floor and the NCR gallery. It’s not a small update.

Studio C at NBH is getting a big update? tbh I think it does need one it’s the screens at the back and that rubbish newsroom background.

For all the faults with the show (mainly it often being a misery fest) for me it was by far the best use of Studio B and indeed any studio at NBH.   It's the sort of set that Breakfast deserved.

I don't understand why they didn't just move Breakfast to NBH along with the rest of the News output. MediaCity and NBH were being constructed at around the same time so surely they could have just decided to keep Breakfast in London if it meant it was given a proper Studio

It was part of the de-Londonication of the BBC. Breakfast, 5 Live, Sport and Children’s all moved oop North.

Na BBC World News used it better particularly the original Impact which also looked great in studio C

Also, this feature from the newsroom... Are we talking about a design feature of the set itself, rather than something technical?

If you think about it, it can't be many things. Let's narrow them down.

Speaking of which... will they ever repair the real rotating hoop? At least when they will refubrish Studio E?

It was more they hadn’t reached the number of staff they needed to meet the commitment they made. Breakfast was an easy addition.

The North West studio was originally going to be on the ground floor next to sport, with real window views of the ship canal. The decision to move Breakfast was a late call, their bosses didn’t like the real window view and had security concerns. That’s why it was all moved to the second floor. They also didn’t want to ‘harm’ the programme by making it obvious that it was in Salford. That’s why you had the empty generic office backdrop in the screens for so long.

There are two sections of the hoop which are currently broken. It’s not something that can be fixed without serious disruption to the newsroom. It’ll involve scaffolding, like the replacement of the other lighting fixtures did a few years ago, which was done half newsroom at a time over two weekends

I'm guessing that'll become slightly easier to do once Studio B comes back into use, as the work won't be visible during national news bulletins. The News Channel / World simulcasts can utilise C. That would just leave the non-simulcast News Channel hours, for which they'd presumably have to either put up with scaffolding in the background of E or decamp to another studio (if available). Obviously there would still be the disruption in the newsroom itself, even if the on-air output disruption wasn't that noticeable.
