The All new Look North Yorks and ITV Calendar thread
He's probably as familar to Granada viewers as he is to those on Calendar. Do they get Emma Jessen covering in return?
@Brekkietweets
The Granada Reports twitter have announced the news as well so yes they’ve acknowledged that fact

Yes, usually at the weekends when Granada acts as the northern weather hub.
Bit of a cockup on the Look North Yorkshire headlines at 10pm. To summarize, when it came to the headlines we had the Sportsday headlines, then after that had finished we cut to Luxmy on Look North who read out the first headline before being cut off.
Jon Mitchell’s puns have really cheered me up over the years. I’ll miss him.

He was on the lunchtime GR bulletin today.
The Leeds Weather presenter job vacancy is now open.

With Duncan gone that’ll be a complete brand new team for Calendar with Christine, Gaynor, John, Jon and now Duncan.

Duncan is an asset for Calendar and will be missed.
Sorry to hear this. I know he was away due to health issues for a while. I hope his departure isn’t related.

Duncan Wood is to leave Calendar.

Shame we never saw him present with Lara Rostron. I think Michael Billington is a good contender.
Wow I didn’t see that one coming but it must be very surreal when all your presenter colleagues have departed or are due to depart. Such a shame he isn’t going to have a proper farewell programme but a recorded message.
Compared to pre-COVID Calendar will be unrecognisable with all 5 main presenters having left soon. I had a feeling Duncan might not have been far behind when you are the last man standing and having been off so long. Shame we won’t ever seem him present with Lara.

Although Look North haven’t had as many leave, that has a very new feeling as well lately with a lot of bulletins being presented by new faces rather than the more established ones that are left
A shame to see Duncan leave but he has been at Calendar for nearly 20 years.

Here is a clip of Duncan's first Calendar from May 2003 with him presenting from Sheffield back in the days when it was one presenter in the studio and one presenter on location: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MuVHM0bEaeI

Another Duncan related clip here at 6:25 when things go wrong on a broadcast from Grimsby in 2004:

Nothing stays the same forever even in television. I grew up watching Duncan, Christine and the rest and they helped me understand a lot of what was going on in the region.

I’m sure that Lara, Michael and whoever comes next will be great but it won’t feel quite the same.
