I always understood the practice to be that ITV cue dots were the on-air programme counting themselves off-air so that the various pres suites were ready with the next junction or ad break.
So what's going on here? Surely in this situation where the Calendar news bulletin has to be off at a very precise time in order to meet the ITN newsflash, pres would be counting them off air rather than the news studio telling Pres when they are wrapping up, so why the dots? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuMaXWf9Mc0

Yes not sure about the cue dot but some great timimg and presumably a bit of luck there enabling them to get to the newsflash nice and neatly at the end of the regional bulletin.

I’d suggest this channel, https://youtube.com/user/wsmspar1966 is worth a subscribe. A lot of the clips have been seen online elsewhere, but these appear to be from source, or at least from the generational VHS tapes that did the rounds back in the day. Definitely worth a look through.

These got waved at me on YouTube, two remakes of classic Mr Bean sketches, if you've ever wondered what The Exam and Royal Premiere could have looked like on film:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29ZmXkICT1g https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZH00cv4KPE Apparently were bundled on rental copies of the two Hot Shots films (the second film, Hot Shots Part Deux, the bundle is more understandable as Rowan Atkinson had a small role in that film, but that falls down with the first Hot Shots film as he wasn't in that one, and the only tenacious link is the comedy element) and these supposedly appeared in front of a few films or two in the cinema around the time. Fox, naturally (notice posters in the background of the Premiere clip for Fox films of the time).

Some ITV Night Time continuity from the early 1990s. Judging by presentation style being used at the time plus the ITN logo of the time, it's from the ITV 3 Nights era, probably sometime from either 1993 or 1994 or 1995.

This is a great clip of BBC Wales from 1977 which starts with a very unusual back announcement to the previous programme, I'm not sure that would happen these days

I don’t think the back announcement would be done that differently today in that circumstance- except they’d probably show a still of the person. The weirder detail (for me) is that super-abrupt mid-sentence fading out of the discussion, though this was common back then. I’ve seen a black and white Fred Dinenage-fronted schools programme from the 60s somewhere on the web where this also happens
