I've only just realised that the 'Bitesize' icon is remarkably similar to the toolbar icon on Firefox for 'Library' Tongue

And even more similar to the library button in One Note!

The BBC Brand Refresh has been nominated for a D&D Award. I think seeing this is really interesting, almost like a case study.

Interesting they appear to have used a 2016 concept image from Red Bee regarding BBC Three. I suppose because BBC Three didn't actually have many idents at that time to really represent the brand!

I really like what the BBC have done to refresh the website, they've aligned all the names of their services to the left, alongside the BBC logo.

It's clean, slick, and I think having the BBC logo a little bigger makes people's eyes immediately think it's the BBC, bolder and much more prominent.

However, it seems they still haven't updated Bitesize, leaving this quite garishly spaced out logo. I suppose it would have to result in a complete overhaul of the website but even then, it's going to be an eyesore for months to come until the BBC update it come the summer break.

Also known as "Allanbuzzy" on other places.

Very interesting read and really highlights how much more cohesive everything now appears. Looks like there's a preview of the possible refresh of the BBC Sport graphics in that portfolio too:

And the sonic branding too.

That's the first time I've noticed that it's in three parts for BBC. It's very subtle but once you realise...! Wow!
I still would've preferred if they used the literal notes B-B-C as the jingle.
Wonderfully weird.

Ah, so that's why they called it that.

I think that would be unnecessary.

The work of Wolff Olins and Zelig Sound, even if it is not as neat as the masterpiece Lambie-Nairn achieved in 1997, has grown on me. I think it has all the potential to be used on its full form; sadly, the way the rebrand has been handled makes this attempt to make the entire BBC brand unified quite a mess. Still having doubts on the new blocks, however; but it has a real purpose, so I understand the basis behind the rebrand (as shown on the case study submitted).

The sonic branding is good, but not easily identifiable and unique in reflecting the BBC as a world-class broadcaster reinventing itself for the streaming generation; even if tries to be a reinvention of the B-B-C interval signal used by the World Service's non-English programming, it sounds too similar to other streamers' original front caps.

Overall, after seeing it all has a common sense, I think Wolff Olins and Zelig Sound have achieved a good job overall refreshing the BBC brand, but there are quite important misses in the work. However, the overall execution might be able to win one of the Pencils on Wednesday or Thursday, which will be available to see online for free.

Why do you say that? I thought you hated it all…

In fact I do hate them all, but to be honest I would be even more surprised if this rebrand doesn't get this award,  I checked the other nominees on the website, and the BBC rebrand looks the one that stands out the most, but that's just my opinion of course
Wonder if they'll add icons for CBBC, CBeebies and Food eventually - certainly Food anyway. CBBC and CBeebies seem to have been somewhat forgotten in this rebrand.
