So Ncuti Gatwa's debut will be upstaged by David Tennant. That feels unfair, and if anything having the two anniversary specials a year apart before a full new series seems like a bit of an inconvenience. Would be much better to just get on with the full series.

It’s probably the only way to get viewers through. Without it Ncuti Gatwa could easily rate very low.
As she was spotted at the filming in Camden today this won't be (when fully confirmed) the greatest surprise ever, but it appears that Rachel Talalay will return to direct some of the 60th anniversary programming. She previously directed many well received episodes in the Capaldi era: Dark Water, & Death in Heaven, Heaven Sent & Hell Bent, World Enough and Time & The Doctor Falls and Twice Upon a Time.

Today also has a night shoot until 3am apparently.

By what's reported here from Russell T Davies' column in the latest Doctor Who Magazine, how Ncuti Gatwa was announced was the plan all along, with a cryptic post at 11:30 tht would go viral, a press release at 12:30 and then to appear on the BAFTA red carpet at 13:30. The article also says that Russell T Davies will return to write a regular 'Production Notes' column fro Doctor Who Magazine later this year.

A great deal of filming this past week has revealed that much of the 60th anniversary will in fact be a loose adaptation of Doctor Who and The Star Beast, a comic strip adventure first serialized in the pages of Doctor Who Weekly in the 1970s featuring Beep The Meep, a fuzzy cute alien war criminal who has also made appearances in Big Finish

1980s. Doctor Who Magazine, then known as Doctor Who Weekly, only launched in 1979, and this story ran from February to April the following year.
