Also, if we're taking Graham out the commentary booth (and even if it wasn't in the UK as an international big hitter he's surely top of any list) I'd be looking to install Paddy there for domestic viewers.

I'd be looking at Rylan for the green room, assisted by either Ruslana or Jamala.

The intervals should have a Ukranian flavour I agree. I'd be looking at Ruslana, Jamala, Verka and Go_A to all play a part.

Love how we're all assuming it's a given. I actually quite like the idea of making it a European affair - indeed the idea of making a UK hosted affair a "Ukrainian Contest" is somewhat nonsense considering nowadays they're pretty much country neutral with only a hint in the interval acts of the local culture, but even then it's not blatantly on show as it once was. As much as I think adding a Ukrainian host is a good if you go too far down that route you risk it ending up as quite a messy affair. Have a few nods for sure, but on the whole "the show must go on".

I still don't think Graham is a good choice as host - indeed his history of hosting light entertainment shows other than his chat show isn't actually that great bar the run of Andrew Lloyd Webber talent shows. If James Corden wrapped up his show in time though he'd be a possibility - as much as it's cool to hate on him his show is undoubtedly bigger than Norton's and he is generally a pretty decent Master of Ceremonies at the big musical award shows.

What this discussion does highlight though is how stale BBC presenting talent is - and it's not much better over at ITV.

That's why I can see it possibly being very neutral. It won't be like the old days, where the show had national flavour even though they weren't champions.

ITV has all their eggs in Ant and Dec's basket and it's come home to roost. I'd say Schofield would be good, but his attitude to the contest is poor. Many fans would prefer he stayed well away.

The only other really obvious candidate is Dermot O' Leary.

Are there many big name presenters who are known all across Europe to host a European ‘flavour’ show? Most are only known in their country and I don’t think Graham Norton is as well known as people on here seem to think he is. (And as an aside, I much preferred the semi final commentary to Graham in the final. He just doesn’t seem to strike the right tone to me whereas Rylan and Scott are so passionate and it comes across throughout.)

From the UK, Graham Norton is - hence he gets called on a lot by host broadcasters to do a bit. His chat show is shown worldwide, because it's one of the few shows in Europe that can book guests of a certain calibre. Graham gets all the big Hollywood A Listers.

In terms of recent past hosts after Mans Zelmerlow & Petra Mede from 2016, the other one held in high regard is Assi Azar from 2019 who was excellent. I'd also add Chantal Jansen from Rotterdam 2020/1 to that list, though. That said, I felt Allesandro Cattelan (taking Mika & Laura out the equation a sec) was one of the best hosts we've had since Stockholm, there was a LOT that could have gone wrong in that show on Saturday and I'd love to hear his earpiece during all of that, but he took it all in his stride.

Ruslana struggled in 2005 doing a green room type role so I’m not sure they will offer her that role again. 

Verka is the most memorable of the Ukrainian acts in the UK but Jamala is more recent.

I'm not thinking of traditional presenters though - I'm thinking of notable Brits from movies and music who could host alongside an experienced presenter.   Doesn't have to be an A-lister but someone who at least is somewhat known - Dan Stevens could have been a shoe in given his role in the film but his recent One Show antics would probably put the BBC off.

If we were to keep it in the BBC family so to speak though I wouldn't be against Rylan and Sara Cox. If Graham Norton is the best they can get on an international name front then so be it, but I just don't think it's good for the show itself to have a host who has to juggle commentary duties too. Indeed how often has that actually happened?

Worth noting the last couple of contests haven’t necessarily gone for exclusively tv presenters. We’ve literally just had a singer presenting the last one. I could well imagine someone like Harry Styles hosting. I mean I’d hate it, but it’s possible - he’s hosted SNL I think. Have to admit Corden is a good shout too.

Few movie stars would host Eurovision I expect and nor would I want them to, it’s not really the vibe of Eurovision. It would just be weird. And why would they be British necessarily? I agree with others, I can’t see a full team of British presenters under any circumstance

Although Roman Kemp is hosting Party at the Palace on BBC One with Kirsty Young for the Jubilee so there just aren’t many ‘channel exclusive’ names left nowadays.

I think there’s going to be far more Ukrainian involvement than some here are imagining.

Yes logistically and physically they can’t host it at home but they could still put together a presentation and creative team to do the editorial side of the show.
