Eurovision 2023 - BBC

I think the resurrection of BBC Three the year that the BBC has really tried (and succeeded) in engaging the younger audience demographic has been a shot in the arm for Eurovision in the UK.  Using Scott and Rylan for BBC Three coverage seemed a much better fit than on BBC Four.  I don’t know what audience figures the SFs get in the rest of Europe but several countries show them on different channels to the final.

If we're doing what ifs in terms of hosts, can I suggest as a slighty left-field option, Radio 1's Vick Hope?  Not the most high profile choice, perhaps, but a music broadcaster with the benefit of being fluent in French, Spanish and Portugese (with a Languages degree from Cambridge)

Good call, not that anyone really needs to do more than a couple of lines in French nowadays.  Only thing is she doesn't really have a big live TV hosting gig under her belt though I assume in her Capital days hosted the Jingle Bell Ball and Summer Equivalent.    Talking of which Roman Kemp wouldn't be a bad shout either.

I think it's highly likely, if the UK were to host, that big-hitters would be brought out to present, rather than those who have little to zero experience with handling long, complex live TV broadcasts. Graham/Tess/Claudia/Zoe? I also think there'd have to be at least one Ukrainian presenter in the mix. It would definitely need to feel as though Ukraine had their fingerprints all over the event.

Pleeeease keep Tess away from it. She has absolutely no business popping up at the Eurovision Song Contest.

Graham is the obvious choice - known internationally and the equivalent to Sir Terry doing it last time we hosted plus a very safe pair of hands. I suspect Rylan would be a given now because of his connection to and love of the competition. And after how well she went down in her cameo this year and her growing track record, I think AJ Odudu would be the obvious third host.

Someone like Mel B would be relatively known everywhere and is charismatic enough to carry it off. That would work well with Graham and a Ukrainian personality.

My what ifs presenters-wise: Graham Norton is, like @Flux said, an obvious choice for all reasons, but, to really emphasize Suspline has all their fingerprints all over the event, he would be joined by an Eurovision favourite, Petra Mede, as well as Timur Miroshnychenko. Not only would say Suspline has their fingerprints there, but also would demonstrate, in case the BBC and SVT help out, that they're doing the job without compromising each other.

In the case Suspline, BBC and SVT (in the case it happens) take on a separate presenting team for the Semifinals (like what happened in 2009), that team would be made of Rylan, AJ and a Ukrainian female presenter, either Jamala, Zlata Ognevich or Masha Efrosinina.

In all three shows, Paddy O'Connell would serve as Green Room presenter, including an increased role mixing Green Room interviews with backstage interviews (featuring the gamut of people involved on such, including commentators and BTS personnel). This role would also involve creating exclusive content for TikTok.

That's a good idea actually. Graham and Petra have worked together before but a British presenter, a Ukranian one and a third neutral Eurovision royalty is a brilliant idea.

Also gives Edward an excuse to write the script (Suspline hired a Brit in 2017 in any case, remember any Ukranian production crew even in normal times would be a very international affair.)

EDIT: For the semis there's another obvious candidate in a UK proxy hosting: Måns.

Around the time of Let It Shine I'd have said Graham and Mel Giedroyc would have been the obvious pairing for a UK-hosted Eurovision (especially as she was also hosting the UK selection shows) but that was 5 years ago now.
