The pictures on Freeview seem fairly soft (like old American pictures) and the newspaper previews look fairly illegible, compared to other channels. Seems strange there were no phone calls taken to a show which encourages you to ring in?

It reminds me of the early days of Talk Radio when you'd have Julia Hartley Brewer giving out the contact details and then padding the hour with guests instead of listener contributions.

I do feel like the format Daisy's show took tonight would have worked better over two hours. Use the first hour for in-studio discussion & add a second hour for listener/viewer calls. I also still don't entirely see the need for a Piers repeat this soon after the main broadcast.

He's clearly nailed his colours to this crusade.  So I presume we are not going to get anything remotely newsworthy that doesn't fit this agenda in his show.  The audience will tire of that quickly.  

His show had no relevance to anything topical happening today. I noted it didn't indicate it was live, it could have been recorded anytime.

If Piers' definition of fun is all of the above then it's not going to be fun at all. 

I read Piers' last book (don't judge me) and while I think it made some good points, there were moments where I rolled my eyes many times. It's probably why I preferred his documentaries and Life Stories, it's a format where he cannot deviate and when he's reined in a bit, he's watchable.

I agree with this. He was at his best on GMB when he did the political interviews at the very core of the pandemic when he was making sensible points, not throwing around sensational stuff.

Similarly, Chris Evans was better on Radio 2 because he had some guidance and the show ran tighter than it did on Virgin. I wonder if Piers’ new show will suffer a similar fate.

One of Piers' best interviews was with Donny Osmond on You Can't Fire Me, I'm Famous which is floating around on YouTube and Piers does a great job and it is different from the Piers of today.

The CSO set is better than GB News but I don't think the 'radio on TV' pres is as good as LBC personally.

Ironically I think the two shows from the green screen set worked better tonight than Piers Morgan Uncovered.

From a pres point of view, Piers has a wonderful studio and the ability to do so much with it, but the format itself is a stinker.

It's too early to comment on the radio station output, but I'm not overly keen on the "FROM THE TALKRADIO STUDIO" ticker on the wall behind and time will tell if viewers who enjoyed the evening tv content will watch Dave from Leeds calling in Mike Graham to complain about the latest in the world of cancel culture.

The trouble is for the show to work in all three markets he can’t really talk about much stuff that’s UK specific. It’s just going to be culture wars, Harry & Megan and Biden/Trump. Maybe the odd story from UK politics with a lot of context. There also doesn’t seem like a lot of opportunity to bring guests into the studio for debates and interviews. I think ultimately they’ll end up making a UK and international edit of the programme but I don’t think it’ll do that well on Fox Nations streaming service for it to be worthwhile once the Trump interviews done. 

The reason he debatably worked so well on GMB was the people around him and the fact they it seemed like they saw him as a bit of a joke not too be taken too seriously.

I don’t really get the need to distinguish the radio programmes from the TV programmes. If your watching the former radio programmes on TV you are for all intents and purposes watching a TV show and if your listening on the radio your listening to a radio programme. Use imaging to make to the distinction and inform viewers/listeners of the other service.

It would just make more sense to call it all Talk News and it would sit better alongside the talkSPORT brand. Which I think will happen once the launch stage is over.

Morgan's show didn't work for radio at all. It's a tv show which is on three outlets in the UK, Australia and the US which is then lumped onto a radio station that has a different format to the 7-10pm output.

TalkRadio listeners who'd normally expect a topical phone-in instead got a 60 minute straight news bulletin with a female skew (TalkRadio is male skewed), then the Piers format and then a civilised debate at 9pm. This is from an outlet that from 6.30am-7pm is full on culture wars.
