Yes, and it is... well it looks like it

Quote:Certainly BBC One and Two were playing it out separately with their own announcer reading the same script last Friday.
Yep, but presumably using it because the same schedule was on both channels - to all intents and purposes it was ansimulcast.

I don't know why they had different announcers, unless it was so Newsnight could be promoted. Possibly a contractual thing?

But on Saturday that wasn't the case so BBC One had an ident that said BBC One. Presumably that's the 'event safe' BBC One ident

Newsnight was introduced without an ident on 9 Apr. And the Event Safe family ident was used at 10am on 10 Apr for BBC News Special, which’s on BBC One only.

Also The Papers on 9 Apr was with the family ident, but the announcer referred to the service as BBC One instead of The BBC.

Previously (at least in 2018) the event safe idents on Sky Q are Logo for BBC One and Silk for BBC Two.

Might just have been operationally easier to have both channels play out the same schedule than to simulcast and fudge the EPG for BBC Two? An announcer and director were on duty so they might as well do something.
Write that down in your copybook now
