Channel One's Paris correspondent Zhanna Agalakova quit in protest at the war.

She said she believed Russian television was being used to pump out Kremlin propaganda, and that the authorities had for years been stifling independent media.

She said she wanted Russians to hear her message, to stop allowing themselves to be "zombified" by propaganda, and start seeking out alternative sources of information.

It has been announced by the Houses of Oireachtas earlier this evening that President Zelinsky of Ukraine will be addressing the Irish parliament in Dublin via videolink on the 6th of April.

It will begin at 10am Irish time.

I assume RTÉ, Virgin Media, TG4 & Oireachtas TV will give his speech full coverage to viewers on that particular day.

For another place perhaps but have to wonder what the strategy is there - understood doing it with the bigger parliaments but it's almost Zelensky on Tour now. The initial speeches were very newsworthy but with each one they get less so, although perhaps that is the point - to try and ensure Ukraine isn't forgotten as time passes. Of course Churchill kind of set the model for how powerful speeches can be during a time of war and ensured they were delivered via radio, not just to the House of Commons too.


Talking of strategy and the propaganda though the government have granted the BBC's request for extra funds to cover the additional costs of the conflict for BBC World Service, with a further £4.1m for Ukrainian and Russian language services.

It was an amazing report, getting so close to the action, and amazing to see how the Ukrainian army just have no fear even going down to the to the bunkers, there were 2 or 3 reports right in the action, so brave of them! Considering Sky were fired at, do they get danger money pay while they are out in Ukraine?

I have just noticed that Sky Arts may have made a major broadcasting blunder with one of their programmes this morning when the war is still ongoing in Ukraine.

I was flicking through a few channels after I flicked off CNN before 5am this morning. I was flicking through Quest HD and Freesports HD before I had eventually settled on Sky Arts. I was watching a programme called The Art of Architecture which is shown regularly on Sky Arts. The programme was talking about The Holy Trinity Cathedral in Paris.

This building is associated with The Russian Orthodox Church. I did not expect to have read this story when I found out about the people who run it had actually said these words about the war in Ukraine.

To put it simpler terms here; the people who run this cathedral in Paris had ignored calls from Catholics, Protestants & the Ukrainian Orthodox community in France to write up or to announce a formal appeal to it's own parishioners to end the war in Ukraine.

A formal letter was sent to the people who work in this cathedral from these 2 religious communties based in France. When the heads of these church communities had turned up to this Cathedral in Paris to had in the letter to the people who run the Cathedral. They did not have a good time there as the french catholic and Protestants priests had their letter taken from them by someone working in the building. However they were subsequently ignored and shunned by the Russian Orthodoxy in that area of Paris.

Do you agree with my assessment that Sky Arts have made a major error in broadcasting this programme about the cathedral in their schedule?

I'm not sure the services are currently in Ukrainian and Russian, but instead in English ? I really do think they should be in Ukrainian and Russian ?

Do you agree with my assessment that Sky Arts have made a major error in broadcasting this programme about the cathedral in their schedule?

An error perhaps - a major error no as by your own admission as a result of the programme you've learnt something and educated yourself about their position.

The programme itself would appear to be about the architecture of the building rather than who runs it but even if that isn't the case it seems how the Russian Orthodox Church comes to run a church in Paris is perhaps a history lesson which is more relevant now than perhaps it has ever been in recent times. If anything perhaps more programmes about Russias relationship with the rest of Europe, along with programming on Ukraine, are needed at the moment to put current events into historical context.
