BBC North West Tonight

I recall reading that there was a delegation of managers visiting the supposed spot for a “real view” studio when a gang of youths did something which put them off.

I suspect Daybreak 2010 may have also had an influence.

Is Owain hosting the weather from home? He seems to be shorter and sound not quite right, but acceptable given the circumstances.

To be fair it’s not uncommon for Owain to be presenting the Weather from home as the picture and sound quality isn’t the best, but it’s adequate for a short forecast. However it’s usually more evident on the lunchtime bulletins than on the evening ones.

Not sure if it's significant but Owain is deputising for OJ Borg on Radio 2 this week (until Thursday).

Viewers in the North West were given the local news from Look North (Yorks & Lincs) during BBC Breakfast this morning due to technical problems:

They managed to post their bulletin on their Twitter profile though - as shown above.

Considering how often the local breakfast bulletins have been dropped over the last couple of years really surprised they're doing them this week.

I’m quite surprised to see Dave Guest reporting on an item during the North West Today headlines this morning, considering he retired from the BBC last year, I’m guessing he’s gone freelance possibly?

I was quite surprised too to hear a clip of his reporting was part of the midday news on BBC Radio Wales. Also assume it was a freelance return.

Not too surprising really - take the redundancy, go freelance and no doubt with the current Omricon situation quite a bit of casual work about at the moment.
