BBC North West Tonight - Richard - 15-04-2021 BBC North West’s weather presenter Owain Wyn Evans was celebrating the anniversary of going viral playing the drums to the BBC News (was it World News?) countdown today, by repeating the feat live at the end of tonight’s programme after the weather forecast. He is really good (from what I can tell!). There were a few (unintentional) frames of the countdown video at very end, which was odd because the countdown audio had finished at this point yet the video was approximately at the 30 seconds mark. BBC North West Tonight - Lightbox - 15-04-2021 Sounded like the News Channel countdown to me ('Reith version'?), but I may be wrong! I think the countdown frames at the end may have been from Network still showing the News Channel filler. -- BBC NW live streamed the end of the programme on Facebook if anyone wants to watch back... https://fb.watch/4UfeieVjgT/ BBC North West Tonight - Brekkie - 15-04-2021 Fair play to Owain and those that appointed him it was always going to be a tough gig replacing Dianne Oxberry and they couldn't have gone for someone more different but I think during lockdown especially he's now established himself a crucial member of the team - and that viral video probably helped no end. As for the main hosts - are Roger and Annabel still effectively job sharing or is one of them now clearly in the role as main host? BBC North West Tonight - chris - 15-04-2021 I’ve been wondering that for a while - I was under the impression that the two were having to reapply but it’s all gone quiet since. With Roger’s Breakfast commitments and working different holidays, a job share can’t be too difficult to work out. I was thinking of someone else who did a World News/Dua Lipa mash up that went viral last year. https://youtu.be/skK3WoK5Z8A BBC North West Tonight - Ballyboy - 25-05-2021 https://twitter.com/stevensaul/status/1396951720157196291?s=21 Quite good I thought BBC North West Tonight - Ashley - 25-05-2021 Brekkie post_id=6916 time=1618513870 user_id=976 Wrote:As for the main hosts - are Roger and Annabel still effectively job sharing or is one of them now clearly in the role as main host? Roger has got the job. Annabel is now political editor and presents Politics North West. It happened in 2004 when they dropped the standard (and admittedly boring) ‘people in motion’ titles for an LDN imitation, then by the time “borked up LDN-style” had become the brand standard, they dropped it for the fantastic but short-lived timelapse titles. That’s without mentioning 2011’s custom sequence which Hull unsuccessfully copied. A subtle change herebut it’s nice, sounds more ‘final’ than the original which sounds as though it wants to keep going but gets cut off. BBC North West Tonight - Joe - 25-05-2021 Unpopular opinion: the 2007 North West Tonight look was not good. The titles were okay (though the reflection effect was naff, albeit very 2007). But the set was horrid – blue backdrop, ridiculously shiny black floor with set elements looking like they were lost in that big space, horrible perspex pieces lit from below. None of it was on brand and none of it went together that well. I don't know why local operations always feel the need to diverge from the main brand, it just makes everything look fragmented and cheap. It's something ITV have done really well for two decades. The sports reporter in the sofa area always felt like he was miles away from the main news desk. I liked the graphics and the 2007 BBC News graphics. I know a lot of people disown that style now in favour of flat design, but I still like it. BBC North West Tonight - Manclad - 25-05-2021 Sounds to me like the music came as part of the package in some way, shape or form and they’ve decided to use it for the end sting. Sounds good. It sounds messy to me.
