Is Doctor Who cast will be involved in crossover?

I think the joke there was that Doctor Who and EastEnders have crossed over before... though that was a non-canon charity special and both have since referred to each other as fiction.

I remember Brookside had a subtle Crossroads crossover at one point when at a Dixon family wedding, ‘Cousin Jill’ who ‘runs a hotel in the midlands’, was a guest, played by Jane Rossington… although this was after Crossroads had been axed (for the first time).

They did though have a character, Matt Musgrove, who transferred directly from Brookside to Hollyoaks, played in both by the late Kristian Ealey.

I also remember Brookie’s Julia Brogan mentioning that she was going to watch Corrie. I think it’s the only time I’ve ever known a soap directly acknowledge the existence of a rival.

Yesterday, both Corrie (Maria/Tracy) and EastEnders (Bailey) had characters recording climate-related videos on mobile phones. Presumably these clips will crossover into other shows.

I believe the Corrie video will feature in EastEnders tonight, but I'm not sure who watches it.

As I don't watch the other soaps bar EE and Holby, I couldn't tell what crossover content there was in Holby this evening, but they did a COP26 themed episode about a young patient who wanted the hospital to reduce their carbon footprint, which featured a cameo from Chris Packham.

Peter's clip from EastEnders in Emmerdale tonight, every single one of these has felt so awkward and forced. Especially the way the characters have actually said the people are from "Walford" and "Weatherfield", when you wouldn't expect people to be so particular about place names down to what particular suburb they live in, they'd likely just say London or Manchester. After all, in the real world, few appreciate that Salford is an entirely separate city from Manchester, so aren't going to aknowledge a minor suburb like Weatherfield supposedly is.

Obviously nowadays things go viral but rarely things like they're showing. Understandable someone in Emmerdale being interested in a restaurant in Leeds having a "meat free Monday", but not so much they being interested in it happening in an East London suburb.

Doctors covered Emmerdale today and in light of their attempt at a viral video, they were disappointing to see another doctor had done something, so a bit more logic to it than some of the other references. They weren't as specific to the location - "some doctor in Yorkshire" I believe.

Other than characters actually appearing, the viral content seems the most logical way to cover it.

That does seem very forced, at least Doctors said 'East London'

I think the whole thing has been awkward. I didn’t mind some of the dialogue in Corrie where Maria was talking about air quality and her son’s health. It felt organic. But generally it’s a slippery slope when soaps are being used to espouse certain agendas. And I think one day a soap crossover could be done that is less worthy.
