Surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet but an update has been provided about the rollout of BBC One HD across England (as well as for other BBC channels as well):

BBC One HD versions from regions in England will first become available to viewers on internet-connected TV platforms first, including Sky Glass from today - and in the following months, BBC iPlayer will also switch from standard definition to high definition for the regional versions of BBC One in England.
We’ll be continuing our rollout to other platforms throughout next year, with the aim of launching BBC One HD services across England on all platforms by the end of 2022. At the same time as the BBC One HD regional rollout, we’ll also be adding HD versions of some of our other channels (such as BBC Two Northern Ireland, BBC ALBA and BBC Parliament) to other platforms.
Alongside this, we’re also working on making BBC One HD easier to find, moving it to the top slot of electronic programming guides where we can.
We’re pleased to start the rollout today - and will be in contact when we have updates on other platforms.

Nice to finally have confirmation that BBC 2 NI HD is coming to satellite finally.
Dosent seem to mention a date for iplayer says I need sky glass to watch upscaled look north.

Does it means that the rollout of HD channels across England happened starting today instead of 21st October, which is an week of the corporate BBC rebrand.
So the regional news is upscaled is it, let me go and have a look :!:

Lots of extra codecs are required at the PSB 3 CCM centres, (that are managed by the BBC). They are not installed yet (or even purchased possibly) And ITV only have four macro regions in England on Freeview in HD, so those are no good for the BBC to piggy back onto, because it's Beeb policy not to be presented with the 'wrong' region. (Otherwise BBC 1 HD England would have been accrying carrying London these last 10 years)
It's only on D-Sat where almost all the ITV HD regions are available (except for Border Scotland, and CI)

I suspect the infrastructure to get the right region to the right Freeview transmitters needs time to build and is really complex.

It sort of clarifies things but is very platform-agnostic, apart from mentioning Sky Glass which absolutely no-one has yet. Are there any other IP platforms ?

Because, (and a prime example is this very thread) people seize on any quoted date as an unmovable and gospel object, and refuse to have their expectations lowered.
Given the severe logistics and supply problems for electronics (not to mention a far from stabilised Covid situation) it would be foolish to quote concrete dates

It's very platform and region agnostic. I can't see most people upstanding what an IP connected platform is.
I suspect a lot of regions are going to be upscaled, not full HD. But maybe they won't want to mention that.
